Cue Ball Weight Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Brunswick Centennial sets came with a blue circle cue ball. This ball was more effective churning thru a full rack break shot in 14.1. The Red Circle played lighter and would not cut thru a centennial set break shot the same, or as effective. First time I saw the red circle ball was in the mid seventies. Black Bart/Bob Ogburn came to Colorado with one, and offered Grady a game on the wire 9 ball race to 11. Nope. It seemed it was also the first time Grady had seen that ball.

a big honking cylinder!

Really? A cylinder? lol. Well at least they got the genre to market.

Working from memory but picture a steel sleeve an inch or bigger. the ends went almost to the surface and the middle was quite a bit further away from the surface. Seemed like a poor design for magnetic sorting as well as balance. The ball broke a piece off pretty much flush with one end of the cylinder indicating it weakened the cue ball there or perhaps the cue ball material flexed that deep and the steel didn't or flexed much less.

I couldn't think of anything good about that chunk of steel in a ball, well except it worked and I assume it was cheap.

My genuine Aramith measles ball, Cyclop Zeus TV set red dot and black logo Duramith all are 5.90 oz.

The King is alive and a perfect 6.0.

Sent from the future.
