I need to get something to put my cues in. I have about 25-30 cues in various cue cases and would like to get some kind of cabinet if reasonable.
Anyone have anything or know of anything?

Sounds to me what you need is a good fireproof gun safe. They are not cheap but they keep out the crooks and fire.If you have custom cues the insurance might pay for them but you cant replace them.Even if you have new ones made they are still not the same ones. The initial investment is high but it could pay off in the end.(Hopefully you never need it.)Its always better to have it and never need it than to need it and not have it.I have guns, paperwork and pool cues in mine.It use to be every time I went out for any amount of time(6+hours)I found myself worried about someone stealing my stuff. Now I figure if they can get it unbolted from the wall and the concrete floof then move 600 pounds without being seen then they can have it.I think that youll sleep better on vacation if you buy a good fireproof safe. This is just how I feel but I'll bet there are a lot of people who feel the same.

Custom Cabinet

I was in a similar situation. I had a safe but it got to be a pain to open/close whenever I needed to look for a particular cue. I found a local wood worker to build on from some general information I gave him as to spacing, dimensions, doors, lighting, etc. I think he did a good job for not having any idea what the end product was supposed to look like. This cabinet holds 48 cues. There are 2 sections; the top section has glass on both doors on both sides and swivels. The bottom holds the shafts for the corresponding cue on top and has solid doors. I hope you find something that fits your needs.

I think what you should probably do is have a nice single layer display cabinet made that will hold about 6 or 8 cues and just rotate them out.Put some in there to show them off and when you want to show something different just change some or all to different cues.I do still recomend a good safe for all the ones not on display and for any long term storage like vacation.I guess there is no sense having beautiful cues if you and others cant enjoy them.

Thanks for some of the ideas.

Jim- I have concrete basement walls and can't use your solution.

The others look ok, but i have no idea as to price or who to get to make them.

Cue Cabinet

Hi. Been following your posts - it just so happens I am a furnituremaker and might be willing to make a cabinet for a trade or cash, whichever you prefer. I'm located in TN so freight would have to be factored in equation. May not be prohibitive depending on where you are. Here is a pic of a piece I made. Not a cue holder but you get the point...

Why not? Just get a masonry bit and some tap cons. You might also consider liquid nails.

If you wanted something fancier, I understand.

BTW, that wood work done by Chris is freakin smokin hot! Very nice

Chris,

If you decide to make one or more display cases. Let me know. I would have an interest in purchasing one or two depending on their size. I would pick them up.

Rik -
Thanks for interest. Unfortunately I dont make speculative pieces. Too much money in wood these days just to hope they sell. If you have something in mind, let me know and we can make some arrangements. Keep in mind though that we arent talking about plywood junk that anyone who hangs a sign in front of their house can make. I make traditional cabinets with traditional joinery (dovetails, etc). All of which should be expected of something that will hold $20,000 worth of cues!

By the way, where are you located? Maybe we can play sometime...
