I know I have seen this subject a long time back but can anyone tell me if one is allowed to take a cue & case as a carry on a flight. Is there any update info. on this subject. I am flying SW Airlines in a month or so and the information will help. Thanks.

You can check your cue, but you can't carry it on despite the fact that people can carry on any number of other things like guitars etc. One of many reasons the ridiculous government controlled "security theater" at our nation's airports needs to be shown the door.

Sadly have to agree about the "theater" of screening passengers.

Regarding cues, it is simply a social stigma attached to the game we love. A pool cue is less of a weapon than a titanium tennis racket or "walking" stick I see people take on the plane. The game is only played by scum so a pool cue must be just a weapon of choice. Sadly it appears to be the way some segments of our society view us. A couple of years ago, the TSA approved allowing pool cues to be carried on board. The Union representing the flight attendants voiced their disapproval. Too dangerous to their personal safety. Want to change the rule? Start with the Union.

Safest thing to do is carry your cue and case packed in a larger bag and checked through to your final destination. If you choose not to do that, ship the case via UPS or Fed Ex to your hotel and have it held. Sad, but we don't make the rules. Or do we.

Thanks

Thank you all for this information. At least I know where I stand and I can start making my plans for my trip. Thanks again.

here is my nightmare from 2 years ago...my one and only trip to vegas so far.

after talking to a few people that have been before and reading up on here i decided to buy a new 4x8 case and take mine and my g/f's cues . i bought a cheap sneaky and left my custoom loaded with ivory at home.

i bought a large suitcase that would fit the cue case diagonally and packed our clothes around it. we got to the memphis airport and every one here who was going had either done the same or shipped their cues to the hotels. one guy boarding was carrying his case on the plane. upon talking to him i found he had flown from lousiana and was changing flights in memphis and had not had any problems.

upon arriving in vegas we saw several people who were getting off planes carrying their cases.

while in vegas my g/f buys a shit load of things to bring home. i tell her to buy another carry on bag to put that stuff in. she says she is gonna put that stuff in the suit case and i can carry on the cue case.

i tell her just because people were getting off with cue cases don't mean they are getting back on with their cases.

when we get to vegas airport to head home guess what ? the woman at the ticket counter said ...you aint getting on carrying that thing...pointing at my cue case. not only that.....our suitcase was overweight with all the shit she bought.

i wanted to tell her...i friggin told you so but my g/f is about in tears thinking we are gonna miss our flight.

gotta go. finish later
