Cue case paranoia. Anyone else have it???

In all my years of playing I count myself lucky that I have not had any cues of mine stolen. But I have had friends of mine seen their cues disappear in the past. There really is not much that can be done really except to just be observant about where you store you cue & case, and be careful which places you choose to play & compete at.

All that aside though I have decided to begin investigating the subject of Covert GPS Trackers. These are the smallest forms of GPS units that can be used to track vehicles and other objects. I have found a couple of different small units that could be installed in a cue case, but your looking at around $200 or more. Plus the monthly tracking service fee. But if your intent to play with your top quality cues, and you travel alot in your playing, I think the expense could be worth the investment.

Afterall, you make a good investment in a cue or cues, and a good investment in a quality case to protect those cues. So why not make an investment to securely protect the cues and be able to locate your investment when they disappear?

I find it difficult to watch a case when it is under the table.

Thread that has some detection items for goods that get away from you is:

I bought a cheap proximity alarm off Ebay. This system set with a sensor in the case, and an silent buzz alarm in your pocket. The alarm in the pocket had a roll sensitivity setting - but there seemed to be too much variance is setting it for it to be practical.

I have seen some of these types of same alarms to keep track of you kids.

Here is what looks like a more advanced system.

it'd be perfect, letting you know when your case is moving further from you , plus in what direction.

i all ways put my case under the table i am playing at....if not playing the case is in on my arm on resting on my leg....when i worked at a hall in the 90s everyone put there cases under the table and the cash on the lights.

Trust me, this man could feed a small village with the contents of his case....

Good lawd i have it bad i take my case to the bathroom with me when not playing, when playing i ask my gf or someone i think i can trust to keep an eye on my stuff.

You can't trust the girls in Houston. You'll come back and she hack sawed a house cue and stuffed it in your case so you wouldn't tell until she had time to go to the pawn shop

I have to agree

I was playing in a Tri-State Tournament Matched up with a good friend Dan Cintron & in the middle of our match.
A guy walks up to Dan's Pool Case Takes out Dans Cue & starts walking away with Dans Cue
Dan & I were stunned As he took about 4 steps away Dan & I asked what are you doing?
He said he was using the stick to play pool with his girlfriend 2 tables away.
Dan Is a very down to earth guy we were more amazed that somebody could
be that dumb because he really didn't seam to be trying to steal it.
But we couldn't believe what had just happened. LOL

Now everytime I see Dan I ask Dan can I use YOUR house cue LOL

I live in a nice retirement community. We have a club house with 5 tables. I set a "how to" book on the shelf over the coat rack, that is in the room. It got legs while I was playing.

I don't have any real money invested in gear, but I still get nervous walking away from my vinyl case and $300.00 cue.

case

What I do is I leave my $75 dufferin break cue and case by the table if I have to go to the restroom. But I always take my playing cue with me, even to go to the restroom.

I tend to take a different approach... I have a high end custom cue that is several thousand dollars, I don't use it in "seedy" places or league sometimes as well. I have another custom cue, made by the same guy, with exact specs to the fancy cue. It's a part-time player and break cue for when I get to be at a place where I can relax and not worry about shit happening!

When I switch to the plain jane cue and I know that's all I'm going to use that night because of the type of place I'm going to, I like to use a cheap $20 case that I have laying around to add to the relief of not having to worry about my high end cue and high end Whitten case as well. I like to apply the rule here, don't bring anything that you're not either going to use or put away in your pockets, that way the only thing left to do is play pool.
