Cue choices

I have to keep things to a low budget as I have a baby on the way. Ive pretty much narrowed it down to Arnot Q and Al Romero. So which would you recommend as far as fit and finish and playability?

I have never seen an Arnot cue so I can't speak on that. But I do play with a custom sneaky pete by Al Romero, and I love it. Hits good, naturally forward balanced, and feels great in my hands. I know some players that swear by his cues. His shafts are pretty good too, stiff hitting. I played with an Ob-2 before this cue and now I won't even bother with LD shafts anymore. On top of that, they sell for a great price.

Just my 2 cents.

I just received my Arnot yesterday. It is the cue on page 798. I am happy with the purchase. The wood is gorgeous. I like the thick finish as well despite a few minor imperfections in the forearm. You have to look awfully close to see these. (This one is on me. I kind of hounded him on finishing the cue by paying up front.) I only have 2 and a half hours of play on the cue now. So, I can't give a proper review just yet. To make things harder for reviewing, I am transitioning from a one piece cue with a hyperbolic taper and no ferule to this cue with a 314 taper on laminated shaft. I noticed that the cue has a lower frequency vibration along the length of the cue than most cues (mellow tone). It doesn't have much lateral vibration (stiff hit). I hope this helps some.

Thanks for the comments and pics, I have been in contact with rat cues and think I'm going that way. Nice looking cue btw

Thanks for the compliment. I'll be posting a review in about 2 or 3 weeks after 40 hrs of play. I got in another 5.5 hrs of playing time today. I work very irregular hours so I don't always get time to play.
