Cue Club in Vegas

but besides Best, Mickey's treats everybody the same as does Pool Sharks.

i live here and for the life of me i never understood what CC had to offer besides being closer to the Riv.

all the best,
smokey

How about several national championship teams and players from their in-house leagues? Perhaps it's the English snooker table? Or the Russian snooker table? Or the Ernesto GC's?

Don't misunderstand, I like Pool Sharks. John, Joe, Thumbs, Katie, Linda and the rest always make me feel at home. Same with Mickey's. Never liked Shaun's choice of cloth though. Tables play "different" from everywhere else in Vegas. Best is the "Johnny come lately". Food was great. Always enjoyed Stefano Pelinga's practicing. Speaking with and/or watching "Mad Max". Best just never had any action other than when the big events were in town. Don't even get me started on Cue-D-'s.

My question back to you is, what's so special about any of the pool rooms in Vegas? Guess my answer is pick your poison! Chose the CC myself. Twelve minutes in traffic from the house.

Look forward to meeting you on one of my next trips out. Where do you play?

Did you ask for the APA rate?? Im pretty sure they honor APA rates for members there last time I checked. I know I would've!!!

I think next year we should all organize a mass call in to the Cue Club to complain about them not given the all day rate to the out of town players due to the Nationals. You know.... We should have a set period of time from 5-9 where anybody can call down there to speak to the manager about why this is?? Why does he feel the need to sqeeze the life out of the players that are there to PLAY SOME!!!

The internet is a very powerful tool just like organizing a flash mob... You can block your number and bitc+ it up till you're tickled pink!!! I know it sounds very elementary but maybe the c+ck will just honor it so he doesn't have to deal with a bunch of nitty pool players blasting up his phone line.

Thoughts...........

I just got back from the APA Team Nationals and while I was there I went to Best Billiards. The tables are awesome and the coffee is even better. It was 7 dollars from open to 7pm and 5/hour after that. Cue Club is a piece of crap in my opinion.

Corey, the guy behind the counter said, " he shouldn't have told you that", which means this is the advertised rate, in which, now that I had asked, the house is obligated to give me that rate.

Just like you questioned your server and he had adjusted the price.

Mondays and Wednesdays, ladies play absolutely FREE at the Golden Cue in El Monte CA. This is my home pool room.
On these days we get a bunch of nice ladies coming in playing and having a great time. I know the owner and it doesn't matter what season or tournament is going on, ALL ladies play FREE on Mondays and Wednesdays no Matter what as that's the advertised rate.

When I lived out in Cali for a while I was introduced to Hard Times pool room in the Bellflower area. In the day time a local player could purchase a monthly pass that would alow them to practice. I think it was 50$ or 75$ per month and monday through friday a player was welcome to practice as he was given a card to put on the side of the box light (that had the name of a past champion on it). Anyone else who did not have the card had to pay the normal rate. In your case the fellow had no such card, which means not everyone is treated fairly or equally and that is plain stupid. The cue-club needs to adopt a system like what they had and probably still do have in Bellflower. I would not go back into that pool room if I were treated in that way either. I disagree with Corey on this one, that is not the way it is everywhere. I know that the old pool rooms like Hard Times are almost extinct, but this would be my answer to help out the cue club as the room in Bellflower is one of my personal favorites if it's still run like it used to be it will continue to be a success.

Thats not the first time that story has been told during pool events in Vegas.

Still, I pay 10 and change for an hour so I think $3.75 is pretty reasonable.

The first and last time I was at the Cue Club, there was a trail of vomit leading into the Doniker.

All of the urinals were out of order, (over flowing) save one and one toilette was operational. It smelled like a fire hydrant in a dog pound.
I wouldn't have set my butt on that seat if it was on fire anyway.

The Cue Club didn't look like the pics on their web site. That night anyway.

We also chose to spend the rest of our evenings at Pool Sharks. The toilly was small but at least it didn't smell.

Sounds like you had the same impression as I did. The Cue Club to me, is a run down, dirty building. BLAH!
There are better places to play in Vegas.
The Cue Club is not in the best neighborhood either. ;)

JJ,

You (generalization) might play in Vegas one week a year. Most of the regulars at the LVCC are there nearly fifty two weeks a year supporting the room. Even at $8 per session till 6PM plus beverages and sometimes food. Please explain to me why you are entitled to the same rate? If the management decides that is the going rate for non-regulars, who are we to tell them differently? Don't like it? Vote with your pocket book and play elsewhere. Actually I believe that is capitalism at work.

As Micheal C said, "it's not personal, it's strictly business".

every one that walks in the door of a business should pay the same.
if they want to give discounts then have a weekly or monthly card anyone can buy.
or a small senior or armed forces discount all are entitled to that qualify.

other wise they are just saying-- so you are from out of town so we charge more.

I went there when I was in Vegas and was really surprised.

It really was a dump that smelled like cat pi$$. I thought that at least they could keep the damn place clean and keep it from smelling.

It had a "rough" element there, and frankly I didn't spend much time there.

Must be owned by some pretty dumb folks, why would they let this place get and remain in this condition.

So if I go to McDonalds and order food, the person behind the counter is suppose to say "gee sir, our special daily deal is buy one, get one free. There was a coupon in the paper you were suppose to cut out and bring with you but I'll give it to you anyway. Guess how long that person will work there? Customers pay different prices for the same goods or services all the time. Ever buy a car?

Just one question. When were you there last?

Lyn

Its been years...maybe 5 or so.

If I remember it right, it was dark, lots of black. It needed to be cleaned up, and painted at least, an inviting color.

Ken

Due to "soft" business, Henry cut the space in half over this past Winter. Still has seven of the "Ernesto" GC's. One Diamond Pro/Am where Toby's GC was. Four small Pro/Am's. A bunch of Valley Cougars. One English snooker table. One Russian snooker table and one billiard table. The original bar is still there but the entire area behind the bar is now gone. Henry spent a lot of money cleaning up the room. New carpets. Paint. Revised rest rooms. Not perfect but certainly much better than when you visited.

Problem is so many people have NOT been there lately and formed opinions based on second or third hand information. I don't work for Henry. I do play out of there when I'm in town. Yes, there are much nicer rooms. Best is best. Followed by Mickey's. When it comes to playing conditions, the LVCC is the best place to play. IMHO of course.

Lyn

Ken, you may not know that all four pool rooms are for sale right now. That will give you an idea of the level of pool business in Vegas
