Yeah! I know, thats just the starting price. I would rather buy new. But Im about 3 years away from something like that. Never hurts to look and dream a littlr!

Not a very helpful post since it's already sold, but I have been looking for a CNC system my self and my conclusion was that I would add
some $ on a Gantry CNC system with a 4th axis. In this way I?m able to do not just pool cues but also prototype
aluminum parts for other machinery and other interesting wood parts. Have however not been able to decide on which one to go for

K2Devices?

Have looked at this as well, but the custom cue machine is for me "to custom". It's not much moor than cues it could be used for... Have however not looked at they'r Gantry systems:rolleyes:

Very nice choice, but what kind of hobbist pays $14,000 for a machine. Probably, the only way i will ever own one is if I win the lottery or something!
I'm with you there.
I think the K2 looks like a better option.
Kinda like a cheaper Techno Isel.
Plus if you quit the hobby there is so much you can do with it.
Hell making signs is more profitable than cuemaking.:D

The nice thing about a gantry system is it's indifference to the amount of weight it can handle. When designing the system the driving apparatus ( ball screws, drivers, motors and tracking bearings ) have to be designed for the speed the machine will operate and the weight that can be moved. With a Mill, the tool stands still and the beds move. Hence, the more weight on the beds the more power and torque is needed to overcome the inertia. With a Gantry system, the tool moves and the table is stationary. It can operate at the same speed irregardless if a piece of Styrofoam is being cut or a engine block as the moving weight is a known commodity, the cutting tool.

I checked out the Techno Isel some. Couldnt find pricing though, I did request a catalog. Do you know what kind of pricing we are looking at with this, the K2, and maybe the gantry. I agree that it appears more diversitial then a cnc-lathe.
