I think it would be very helpful, as long as there are no CUE Pimps allowed!!!;) I think there are a number of us who would like to share information and learn as much as possible about this subject!!

Thanks for asking!!

Nice.. but the problem, in case you haven't noticed.. everyone is a cue pimp.

Absolutely, this is a change that needs to be done....the result is clear....it would mean more efficient use of the forums. There is simply way too many junk posts in the Wanted/For Sale section.

In short order it would mean less clutter and I think would have a positive impact on the amount of bumping....i.e. theoretically less of a need to bump for sale item posts due to the reduced junk threads.

Wanted/For Sale is the second biggest sub-forum section in AZ land by far, and my thinking is that a new Cue Talk or Discussion section would probably end up being as big as the Cue Gallery or Ask the Cuemaker even. A lot of topics that would also fit better in a Cue Talk or Discussion section end up there, too, as well.

If the powers at be here are worried about there being too many sub-forums here on AZ, then they need to take a look and possibly get rid of a few of the non-contributing pro player sections. Some of these start off nice but end up being a waste.

Hey....while we're at it, let's bring back a section for that 3 cushion, Rambow elitist chump Deno....just kidding. :)

Joe, this poll should definitely have been public, so that we could all see the voters.

I couldn't put it as public, I feared a lot of non-participation.

I totally disagree, there is certainly a difference between Pimping something and making a legitimate comment about an item. Now if you do not understand the difference, I suggest you go to Down St. Louis, near the Arch. I am certain after that you will have no problem making the distinction between the two!!!!!:D ;) I know, because I am from there and Pimpin in kinda in my Blood, all though I do control the erg here!!!!!:D

Have a good day!!!!!

Maybe.. but when I say cue pimp, I mean a cue seller and in case you haven't noticed, almost everyone is a seller, which means they are all pimps. Now whats to say that if someone is selling an item, then his buddy chimes in and says.. hey.. thats the best cue I ever had, is he pimpin' or making a legitimate comment?

I'd define the chimer/chirper as more of a "ball cupper".....prolly not smart enough to be a pimp.:)

I haven't been on this site as long as some others but when someone known has a cue for sale other sellers chime in with -

That cue is the nuts, can't be beat for that price, it hits like a hammer, etc. etc. etc.

Now take that scenario and suppose a relatively new player is looking at these threads and decides he's ready for a high-end cue. Now he see's all this chatter and makes a decision to buy a TS four pointer for, let's say 2K. A little while after he buys the 2K cue he see's another thread with a potential buyer saying I'll buy a 4 pointer TS for 1K and waaalaaa up comes a 1K 4 pointer TS. Great. Now the newby feels he has been screwed pretty good now. After that he has learned a valuable but costly lesson. He doesn't listen to the cue whores anymore and now knows who and what they are. Do you think he is going to think highly of TS and or the cue pimp? Not anymore. He now knows and will warn others against buying these cues. The pimps have now lessened the market for TS cues and other cues and cue sellers who always receive praise for every pointy piece of round wood they post here.

I almost fell into this trap. Thank God for the internet and the access to info. about cues, cue makers, and sellers. I commented earlier as why some cues sit on cue sellers cites for months on end with no action. It was a sort of rhetorical question that I was hoping would produce a little more conversation. It didn't but it was clear that there is a kind of protectionism among the sellers. Watch what you are buying and do your research b4 plunking down you hard earned cash.

Are some cues worth mucho dinero - you bet. But most simply are not. A new forum for this type of conversation with real world comments as to pricing and value is needed on this site.

Interesting points....all well taken (at least by me). I agree, information is key, but you've got to know who is good to listen to and whom maybe not so good. Let's not forget that we are coming out of a decade long "cue boom" where a lot of the time buyers were able to buy a new cue from a maker, try it out, and then sell it for even money or a gain in some cases even. The encyclopedia and blue books helped to legitimize cues/makers, add the Internet, etc.....these things were invaluable in exposing makers to much bigger audiences, and ultimately helped to establish "investment value" on some cues. We seem to now be at a crossroads for a lot of cues out in the market. Who knows where it will all go, but you are right....getting good reliable information is key.

You see JV, that is where our definition of a Pimp differs. A real Pimp will do anything to make their product appear in a better light than it really is. My comments are directed at those who would do anything, including forms of payment to Hype their items for sale. That is what a Pimp will do, and that is what has been hinted at here and other recent threads.

There is nothing wrong with offering items in the for sale section. There is also nothing wrong with agreeing with someones opinion of an item. However, there are those on this forum who are deceptive in their individual sales technique, for instance Wink Wink, if you hype my item in related posts I will give you a discount on your next repair or cue. This Rah Rah!!! he's the man shit is old and it is deceptive to our new members.

You may not agree with my out look on this issue, and that is OK, but please understand the people this is directed to know who they are.

Have a good night!!!!!!

Well then I understand where you are coming from. Thats why I think if there is a spot where we can talk in a separate area. The new members would have a spot that was easy to find. Here you have to read through the for sale posts, and even read the for sale posts just in case the ad becomes a separate discussion. Look, there are always going to be hypers, and this is the best.. bla bla.. and maybe he gets a new wrap in return, can't do anything about that.
