Cue help...somewhat of a noob(sorry in advance)

Not new to shooting pool but definitely new to all of the cues out there in the world today and I've never owned a quality cue. I think I have it narrowed down to 2, and yeah they're 2 completely different cues but I love both of them so I need some help deciding...

#1- Pechauer P02(wine color stained)...very simple but love the look

#2- Lucasi Hybrid(silver/black)...more of a non traditional look but like it as well

Very similar priced, which can I expect better performance from and which would you recommend for somewhat of a beginner(with cues) like myself??? Thanks to anyone and everyone who helps me out! Much appreciated!

Also, is 19oz the standard/most popular? I tend to play with at least a 20oz with house cues but a good friend of mine thought I should go with a 19oz with whatever I end up getting...any opinions on weight???

My opinion is the Pechauer hands down. Look s like a full spliced sneaky I really like it. Curly maple to boot. The Pechauer will hold its value better as well.

The Lucasi Hybrid isn't even a wood cue and the grips! Na I don't think so.
If you want the pool experience stick with the more tradition materials.

The pechauer is far better cue and the weight can be adjusted as well,
The Stainless steal cue? may also have the ability to adjust weight as well.

On this forum the SS Lucasi Hybrid might get sold, or traded I kinda doubt it though, in the least your going to take a bath.
The pechauer no problem. If you don't like it you'll probably get near retail for it.

Thanks for the help, I have a feeling I'll be getting a lot of similar answers but I'll take all the opinions I can get! If I wanted to put a linen wrap on the Pechauer, is that doable and that's something I'd prob want an experienced person to do correct? If I don't personally know anyone, are there any board members you'd recommend that could hook me up with that service?

Also, is the Pechauer a quality "beginners" cue? And I agree, that curly maple is sweet looking!!!

A good sneaky is the most recommended beginners cue.
If you want a linen wrap or think you do, buy a cue with linen.
To have that cue wrapped would be a crime IMO, plus it would probably run you 100 bucks minimum plus shipping. Lots of cue makers here could do the job.
Wrap less cues are very popular. I personally like wrap less or leather. I have never preferred linen. I guess I spent to many years as a kid using house cues.

My opinion is that no one is going to recommend an aluminum or SS cue over that Pechaur sneaky. Or any wood butted cue for that matter.

Your very welcome, Thank you for listening.
If you decide on a cue with wrap "something in your price range" I recommend you shop for a Joss, Mcdermott, or a Lucasi with a traditional wood butt.

After you put the pics up and I could see them side by side, I think I'd be stupid not to go with the Pechauer! Just love that look and the wine color looks phenomenal in my opinion. I'm thinking wrapless, really not sure if I'd like a wrap or not now that I think about it.
 
You can change the weight of a Pechauer(and many others) by taking off the butt cap and changing the weight bolt. Ask for a couple of extra bolts and experiment with what works best.
 
I will never play with anything other than a wrapless cue. I have found that depending on the shot, your hand tends to 'travel' up and down the butt...and having a half a hand full of wrap and the other half wood is far too distracting. Keep a towel with you if your hands tend to sweat, and wipe down both your hands and cue as needed. If you are worried about grip, some Dr Zog's Sex Wax (found at local surf shops) does a great job of adding a little tackiness to the grip area.

Based on your two choices, I too, wold recommend the Pechauer.

As to weight....a well crafted, well balanced cue can carry more weight without it being noticeable to the player. When playing with weight bolts, bear in mind that changing them out will very likely change the balance point of the cue to either more forward balanced (lighter or no weight bolt) or more rear weighted (heavier weight bolts).

All my cues are wrap less as well. I sold my Jackson with a lizard wrap about 6 months ago. Never really liked it, the handle was a little thin and the shafts were a bit wimpy.

I don't have sweaty hand problems but for me, a wrap less gives me a better grip than linen. The smooth finish causes friction between my skin and the handle. We have all pulled our clean fingers over a clean piece of glass, what happens? It squeaks because of friction. Try to make your fingers squeak over a piece of linen. For me, linen is slippery, I can cradle or very lightly hold a wrap less knowing the cue will not slip even during impact with the cue ball. Leather is in between wrap less and linen this is just my personal opinion of course. Sweaty hands and linen may be a good combo, I don't know.
 
All very good points! A big thank you to everyone who chimed in! Great advice all the way around. Looks like the Pechauer P02 will be the first quality cue I've ever bought for myself! Thanks again everyone, much appreciated!!! Looks like I'm gonna go 19oz and add a little weight if I have to...a friend told me most people go with 19oz as it tends to give you the best feel on a variety of shots...
 
Everyone here is 100% right. The Pechauer sneaky is two orders of magnitude better than that abomination.

I'd recommend a decal cue over that monstrosity any day.

If you don't like wrapless, you could always trade the Pechauer for something with a wrap pretty easily.
 
I understand this thread is pretty much over but wanted to weigh in on another cue that wasn't considered. If, by chance, you receive this cue and feel it's not to your liking, I would recommend checking out Poison cues. In my opinion, they are the only cues under $200 that I would feel comfortable competing with. I'm not terribly fond of the rubber grip nor the modern look but the truth is, it's a very well made cue for the money and probably the best you'll find in that price range.
 
Got the cue in and it's one beautiful piece of art! The curly maple is stunning and the wine color is quite nice! Shot a few games with it and can't wait to get more games on her, league starts tomorrow! Thanks for the opinions everyone...

I don't think you'll be disappointed Nowski. We all love breaking out a new piece of wood.
Just keep in mind that tuning "a different tip or a slight weight change" can effect a cue quite a bit as well. Have fun.

I looked it up, it comes with a triangle tip I use them on all my shafts, as do many other people here as well.
You have your self a common standard cue to work from, make adjustments to your liking. It also has a 12 and 1/2 inch taper I like being able to let my stroke out, that tapper will let you do that.
