I am leaning toward Joss as well. Value is high if it is, as this is more than likely a one of a kind cue. I would email pics to Joss cues and ask. Dan would likely remember that cue if they made it.

Come on cue sages. Help me out here. I need to make a decision on this cue. What's it worth?

Can't give you a reasonable price if the cue's identity is unknown. If it is an early Joss, it is worth >$2000.

I would almost guarantee this to be an old Joss. This thing is worth a chunk to the right person. I agree with cuenut, probably a custom, and for this era of cue, an extremely fancy design. Very hard to put a number on this one.

Well, I was in touch with Bamadog before this was posted and sent the pics to Bill Stroud. I thought it was an old Joss too, however, he says it's not one of his. I was a little surprised but he for sure would remember a cue like this.

My suggestion is to send the pics to Dan Janes. Maybe Dan made it after Bill left.

Absolutely an old Joss. Unusual and imbalanced inlay design, though, and that makes me wonder if they are original to the cue or maybe were added later as an afterthought. Probably by Joss, though, because those shapes are typical to what they were doing early on. Early on there were not a lot of options on inlay shapes....pre-panto. If I remember correctly, Dan told us that these long cigar shapes had their outside radii ground on a shaper.

We have a similar 6-pointer (all high). According to Dan, that's a real rare set-up...the 6 points all high....said they only made a handful of them.

Bama, you the owner or the potential buyer ?? Someone emailed me about this cue a few days ago soliciting to sell it, but I haven't had time to respond yet.....

Judging by the collars, I would think that only one shaft is original to the cue, but the other one was nicely done.

Old Cue

If It Is An Old Joss Dan Janes Will Be More Than Happy To Help You Out. I Had Him Authenticate A Cue For Me Recently And It Turned Out To Be Very Old. Mine Has A 5/16 18 Meucci Thread Pin In It Which Was Only Used In A Couple Cues. I Had It At The Derby Last Time For Sale But All I Got Was People Wanting To Pick It Apart Like Being Able To See The Glue Lines In The Veneers, Very Few People Made Flawless Cues Well Over 30 Years Ago And If You Try Hard Enough You Can Find Something Wrong With Any Of Them.mine Is In New Condition And Is Straight Together And Apart And Has Two Shafts With Ivory Ferrules. Dan Said There Was A Chance That If He Put The Name Back On It The Original Delrin Buttcap Would Crack Being So Old. He Mad Me A Real Nice Authentication Portfolio From Joss Cues And Took Pictures Of It. I Will Have It For Sale Again This Year But Not As Cheap Since He Insured It For 1800 When He Sent It Back.

I am never ever right about these things, but the bottom of the points says Ginacue to me, and I have seen some very unique looking old Ginas, so...
