Cue ID???

Hi, new to the board - please let me know if I'm posting in the wrong forum...

Anyway, I'm hoping someone could help me figure out who might have made this cue. It's unsigned, 60" with a 12mm tip & ferrule. Nice Abalone and Mother of Pearl inlays. I was told it was made in the Philippines. I believe that as I've spent a little time in PI and seen similar work. Does anything stand out or is it just a cookie-cutter from Pampanga?

The seller wasn't a pool player, and I didn't pay much for it, but I like the cue. Thanks in advance for any insight...

PS the shaft is warped and I would like to replace it using the original ring, any cue makers around San Jose, California specialize in this. PM with cost.

He is the typical pool player - not an earlier riser and works late in the night. We talk every once in awhile pretty late in the evening so I know he is a night owl. He is a great person - very helpful - I have known him for 20 years or so.

Hello, this cue is certainly from the Philippines. If I were you I would check out ebay. There are many similar cues listed currently.

The warped shaft is another sign that the cue is from the Philippines, I would also bet that if you slide your hand over the butt, from joint to bumper that some of the inlays have swollen or shrunk. This is mainly due to the difference in humidity from there to here.

They normally sell from $48 to $95 dollars on eBay.

This looks like a WORX Cue, he just starting posting here about a month ago I guess. It looks like his work. I could be wrong. I have seen these cue's in the last month though and on their website they sell for around $240.

I saw a guy in Tucson with this same designed cue. He got it from ebay its a Philipino (sp) cue hence the warped shaft...The one I saw had a mother of pearl looking plastic handle....
 
Cue is a Cue made in the Phillipines. I have quite a few of them. Most were sold directly form PI on eBay, but because of the high shipping, and no PayPal-(some time back)--some USA people have had them in eBay also. So they look like USA cues but are really Phillipine cues being sold by USA eBayers. Might be friends, or relatives, that buy in bulk, and then Buyers can buy them with PayPal, and get them faster than 3-6 weeks from the Phillipines.

The most active presently are CueMaster 98, Worx Cues, Kuliat Cues, Cmaster, and a few more I can't remember right off the top of my head.

Following the designs, I don't know for sure, but have a theory, that there must be a wholesale market, where different "eBay wholesalers" are buying cues from local "cue makers". You will see designs show up in different auctions, under different sellers, that claim to be the "cue makers" and that their cues are original hand made. But you will see they are same cue on a different sellers list also. Plenty of them for sale on eBay all the time.

VERY AFFORDABLE. My personal feeling is they ALL are worth approx $50.00 for a normal inlayed cue , up to $ 150-$200 for a heavy inlayed cue. And that includes shipping:D

(This does not include Mr Reyes cues, or the other FINE cuemakers from the PI. These well known cuemakers are a few, and I mean no disrespect to them. Only wish I had the $$Thousands$$ to buy one:) :) )

After "tearing" a few of them down at the A-Joint, and sanding off the paper thin inlays on a few, most are incredible works of hand inlay over a large center core of the cheapest wood I have ever seen. (Looks a lot like Red Palm). But if not "destroyed" to see under the shinny surface, they look as solid as a rock and incredibly beatiful.

Most shafts are crooked, and if not--very "whippy" in action, once in your hand the quaility of joint work shows them to be Average to Good. Most will warp if not taken care of very well

They are a great cue if you don't spend any money on them ;) ;) :D

Nope! my mentor never used mop/abalone in his lifetime...
the design is quite generic here...as most pampanga cuemakers
have their own version/s of it.;)

fyi, jesus "jessie" peralta bundalian recently passed away
interment is due today at san fernando, pampanga
