With the stolen cue thread growing on a near weekly basis. It has me thinking, can an individual insure their cues outside of their homeowners/rental policy?

I don't know why you would want to go outside of an existing policy? Most carriers have riders you can attach for collectibles that are based upon the value you are insuring.

I have done it both ways.

I had insurance and it was a pain, I had to get pictures and appraisals (or state the BLUE BOOK as reference).

I had a claim and they jumped the insurance to unbelievable, and this extra insurance then became a claim on my house which raised all my insurance.

So I said enough.

I bought a gun safe and dropped the insurance.

The bonus is all the stuff I can put in gun safe - cues, guns, jewelery, coins, documents.

I have never regretted getting a gun safe. I only take out a cue or two at a time, so the risk is minimized.

Hope this helps.

Best of rolls,

Ken

Look into an inland marine policy - it will not effect your homeowners if you have a claim.

10,000 cue should run around $200 / year
