Quite a few years ago I bought an early Hercek cue. Other than my own I would play with one of Joels cues, without a second thought. Just simply a great playing cue. I have alway said that I'd love to own a Gine cue, for their sheer beauty, but never had the chance...JER

Hello,

I have hit with many cues and the only only one I ever didn't need or want to shoot with a few times to be sure if I liked it was My Mike Lambros. My uncle has 4, had 5 until I bought mine, Beeeeeeeeuuuuuuutiful, Looks, and hit. Ultra Joint all the way baby. My brother and I are working on a piloted wood to wood joint, yes because of Mikes joint but I won't infringe on his copyright and it won't be a joint I'll put on all, or many of our cues, just something different. other than Mike, Joel Hercek, searing, Mottey, James White, Cog, Fisher custom cues. I also like Mike Webbs cues.

That would be a tough one as I seldom use any cue that I havent made.
It would be a flat faced joint ... that is for sure.
Most likely a simple design.

Here are a few that I would certinaly want to try:

Bloodworth ... solid reputation.
Southwest ... If I could afford one.
AnnieO ... style.
Tad ... value.
Gilbert ... avalibility

I agree this is a tough one to call...but if I had to buy another custom cue I would play with I would go with the following

WEBB - outstanding hit and reputation (Hi Mike):D
Szamboti - just the hit it speaks for itself
Bludworth - the hit

My first choice would be to have my son build me a cue to the specs I would give him and it would play just like mine. If that is not considered a fair choice I would probably ask Andy Gilbert to build one the way I want it and pay him a little extra to put the butt together with my method and my shaft taper, etc. I have not played with everyone out theres cues, so I don't think I would want to pick an off the shelf cue from anyone I know. I also would hate to have to build a cue for another established cuemaker. That would be an intimidating job. You already know they will find every minute flaw.

I've purchased and played with Ernie Martinez and Phillippi cues and would recommend them to anyone.

I'd really like to try a Szamboti, however, to feel the hit for myself.

I have for sale a 6-point Ernie cue that he made when he started out at Showcase Billiards - if anyone is interested. The cue shows the Showcase "S" on the pin itself.
