How close to finished size do you cut forearms, handles, etc, before assembling them?

I do not like assembling the cue at full size dowels as if it moves during the turning process it throws the a joint screw off center. I like to taper everything to around .100" or so over sized and then assemble it. Everything is usually really stable by that point or it needs to be rejected.

I turn it to final size and then put in the joint screw............
