does anyone sell a basic black cue?

i mean where it's all black. well, everything but the tip and that thing the tip sits on.

and, would it be expensive?

and how does one decide how long it should be? and how much it should weigh?

also can it come in one piece, or does it have to be two?

inquiring minds want to know!

thanks!

Is color truly more important than performance, Sunny? Personally, I don't think I could ever play with a graphite or fiberglass cue. I use a closed bridge and it would drive me absolutely batty. Even with an open bridge, those things get so sticky and uncomfortable. I had a friend who played with a graphite cue for a few years. He was constantly wiping the shaft off on his shirt because any finger smudges would make it difficult to play with. Just something to consider. Unless of course you like wearing a glove

P.S. "That thing the tip sits on" is called a ferrule :) Just so you know for future reference.

I'll sell you this one...

Ebony?

Would an ebony shaft be possible to make? Could it be cored? Similar to a butt? I don't think I have ever heard of such a shaft.

Are there weight/length/playability issues that trump aesthetics?

Sometimes innocent questions lead to innovation. Or not.

The knowledge exists among us to offer an answer-I certainly don't know. I color inside the lines.

Anybody tried this?

Would an ebony shaft be possible to make? ... Anybody tried this?

Yes it's possible to make one. I saw an incomplete one in a well known cue makers' shop once, but I don't know whether he or one of his customers ever used it. It would be heavy (about 50% heavier than maple) and expensive. I don't know what an ebony shaft's playing characteristics would be.

I'm not sure but isn't ebony brittle and prone to chip if it's not finished?
