Cue questions

I've shot on & off for 25 years. I grew up shooting a McDermott that was a Christmas gift. I just recently got back to shooting & on a impulse & to impatient to wait I bought a cuetec natural in a 20 Oz. I've pulled weight out & switched to a predator soft tip. I was going to replace it with a cuetec r360 but I've noticed there doesn't seem to be a big fan base for cuetec in general. Has anyone tried the 360 & the g core from McDermott?

R360 shoots fine. G core shoots fine. Don't believe they come in smaller diameters but they shoot just fine.

What's the benefits of having a shaft turned down? Is it more personal preference or performance?

70/30. It's mostly preference. I like a thinner shaft because it's how I learned. I know guys who can whip my ass with a broom handle.

Cuetec with the R360 shaft will equal the quality and playability of any cue available today IMO. Artistically it may be viewed as lacking.

Not to hijack but I have both a McD and a Cuetec R360 wth 2 shafts for sale. All is nice. search my name and find the ads in the for sale section here

I didn't want to break the bank on my next purchase but I was looking @ the natural r360 & entertained the idea of getting either the pred 314-2 or 314-3 shaft. Or a McD & getting the i2 or i3 shafts. Trying to stay under 600. I also need a good break cue & was looking @ the wct & the meteor.

I play with a R360. I know Cuetec has a bad rep among players, but the R360 hits very well. Much better than the stock shaft my cue came with originally.

there's alot of talk about mcdermott cues, i decided to jump in.

Those are some good looking cues. I'm leaving towards ,McD due to their warranty & service. My old McD is a Harley Davidson cue. It was "borrowed" from me while I was in the Navy & was abused. I'll always keep it because it was a Christmas gift.

I've got a lot of input on the Mcd & some on the cuetec. Just add to the mix what's everyone's thoughts on Schon cues looking @ the Cx01 & Cx75?

Ah, the D19...my favorite design of that series! I bought the D23 as a consolation, since the dealer didn't have a D19 at the time, and although I loved it, I always thought of it as "not exactly the one I wanted"! Dave Matlock was shooting with a D23 at the time, so I felt I was in good company...but man that D19 was pure sex appeal!
