Cue repair adventure

So I gave my 2 shafts to my cue repair guy who I have dealt with many many many times to be refinished new ferrules and tips put on both. I gave them to him well over a month ago and he said he would get them done the next day, and he said that again the next day and the next. Then he said he would have them done the next week. At this point I was in the middle of a trade deal with someone and told them I would have them back that week completely refinished and we could talk about shipping details. Well as of the moment I'm writing this that was close to a month ago. The guy I was going to trade with (on here) has been wayyyy more than patient and understanding and I feel really bad because all I can give him as far as information goes is what I have been told. I am sick of getting promises of "it will be done no later than tomorrow." As far as myself I have been more than patient with the cue repair guy because he keeps saying he has been busy but I still keep bringing it up at least every other day. Well today I found out his "busy schedule" involved him going on motorcycle rides, watching nascar, taking daily naps, going to concerts and just screwing off in general. This all came after he has been telling me he has been having tons of important stuff to do. So I bring this up to my dad who is a good friend of the guy and come to find out he has been with him on most of these rides, and he has the nerve to tell me that it's ME who needs to calm down and to give him another week!!! Now if anybody who reads this thinks I am in the wrong for telling the guy that he better have them done tomorrow or I want my money and shafts back then please let me know. I think I have been more than cooperative as far as dealing with someone who promises me he would have them done the next day and we are coming up on close to two months now.

The guy is totally wrong. Nothing more than a bum if he collected and gives you the run around. my.2 ...Get your stuff back..

Somebody said on this forum... The best way to get a lousey/poor job with matching service is to pay in full in advance.

If you ask for the shafts back, he probably will do them the next day. Then, he'll tell your Dad what a putz you are for pressuring him so much. I'm sorry for your predicament but it's going to end badly no matter what you do. Personally, I'd get my shafts back, pronto. Unless you already paid him, then it's sayanara city, baby.

Well, I know he isnt going to skip out, he is a local guy I know very well. I know where he lives and I could ruin his cred around here if I was like that. I would rather just get full refund.

I think if I were you I would talk with your Dad. Obviously the guy could care less what you think or how the situation appears to you. Your Dad may be able to get better results because if he has been spending allot of time with him sounds like they are friends.

Either way the work itself is nothing more than a couple of Man hour's and it could be easily accomplished in a single evening.

Good Luck and find a new Repairman for future use.

Reread the story--It is his dad who told him to calm down and give the guy time when he told his father about it.

I'd show the guy this thread and out him if he doesn't give a full refund immediately.

You do not want this guy working on your stuff now that you are 'rushing' him.

Out him and save others from these problems.

Well to put everybody at ease it is nobody on here. He is just a local guy who actually is pretty good at working on cues. He doesn't do it for a living only as a service so he doesn't do a lot of work.

I guess you just used him twice. First & last time.

This is just a Learning Experience. You'll find the right person next time.
You tried to give the guy some business....paid in advance....and that is thanks you get.

Well the work was finally done today. I usually use a guy in Fort Collins, a cue maker named Roland Becker who does great work and will do it right then and there. He does his work first come first serve if he is a little behind no matter how big or small the job and he is one of two people I would recommend for anybody in colorado. The other is a fellow AZer his id is plshrk22 who does tip and shaft repair for a great price. But this guy is a local to where I currently am temporarily who said he would have it done the next day. I had no idea it would be such a hassle. I wont make the mistake again. To the guys credit he did great work and did it right.
