Cue Restoration

As you know, I am using Scot at Proficient right now... in fact everyone can see my first cue and current break cue on his homepage right now. It is the "unknown" cue... 4th from the bottom.

I found it in the pool hall I worked in at college back in 1989 or so, and have never seen it in good condition, so this is a real treat for me.

Scot is also re-tipping and reconditioning 3 shafts for me. He said he was shipping it all back to me yesterday... so I should have the stuff tomorrow. I will give a report on the work and my experience dealing with Scot... but the photo of the cue looks pretty good... Can't even imagine how it will look with the new wrap installed!

You could send it to Mueller or Showcase Billiards (in Denver)... but I don't know about the speed or quality of their work.

Someone that changes cues as much as shorty does should've already found a "keeper" when it comes to his cue needs. He doesn't have a keeper because he's burned every bridge he's used so far in the cue repair world.

Well ,i dont remember Mr.Webb having any problems with his lizard wrap he did ?????????:D
 
For this type of cue...

Sherbine is very solid... Mike Webb is also a good choice, but unfortunately for you, he reads the forum.

Joe Sanko in Fla might be up your alley.

Anyone else ever have a deal go slightly awry and looking back it probably wasn't a good idea to open your mouth?

No...but I did tell GEORGE he was a no good,drunk.watka swilling,commie dp.Couldn't get any Q's after that:confused: :confused:
 
I have been useing Scot for many, many years, I would say about 10 plus cues in his Gallery are mine, many of the Szamboti's (Barry and Gus's) on his site are mine. A Tascarella, a couple of Joss Wests.

Scott has provided me quality work, good prices and excellent advice. He has gone out of his way to take cues to Barry for me.

I would recommend him highly and personally, sure hope it has worked for you.

Scott is one of the Best.. it is U that have the problems.......and what do you know about being an adult ? lesson learned is right and you have ALOT of learning to do... if you ever will learn !!!!

By making this reply you have opened up the can of worms,you should not have lead people to think scott has done something bad by wording it the way you did.WE ALL KNOW EXACTLY WHAT HAPPEN AND SCOTT WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU ACCEPTING A CUE THAT WAS RUN OVER BY A TRUCK AND THEN SENDING IT TO SCOTT TO PERFORM A MIRICLE. You should ask mr wilson to delete this whole thread!

I don't really know many of you folks here on AZ.....Shorty musta pissed on somebody's shoes or somethin -- but, my feeling here (at the moment) is that this is a forum for "useful information"!?

It may not be a good link due to some past "negative" experiences -- heck I don't know -- but, I am interested in reading about "POSITIVE" experiences or feedback on having cues restored or whatever!

I know all of you guys/gals here have a wealth of knowledge (more than most of us have) and it would be fantastic to hear your honest views, comments, suggestions, etc. without all the personal BS.....just my feelings at the moment.

I NEED AN ICED COLD BEVERAGE (any takers -- I'm buy'in).....CHEERS :)

I have found out when refinishing a cue ... always go to the orginal maker if he is alive. If not find someone that makes very good cues/ I had one cue maker to refinish one and I was not happy at all. I then send it to Mr Paul Mottey... the cue was BEAUTIFUL.... they both charged me the same price...

Welcome to the forum Ken. There's a ton of info on here...if you do a search, you should be able to come up with a ton of info.

There are no links to shorty's history of issues with all the cue repairs or people that he's bought & sold from because he deleted them. :rolleyes:

Hi Ken,

All you really need to know is that Scot Sherbine does outstanding work and is highly regarded by everyone.

Here is a link to his site and by viewing the cues he has refinished, that alone should tell you that people trust him and why they keep going back. If Mike Webb didn't do such an outstanding job and wasn't local I would not hesitate sending my cues off to Scot to be worked on.

Scot has done work for me and I have always been pleased. If he didn't do such good work, collectors would not send their high-end stuff. He regularly refinishes/repairs true collectibles that most of us can't even afford to collect. That speaks volumes to me! One cue on his gallery is an old Adams that I traded to him for some work. It looked like it had been driven over by a car. It turned out so nice that he put it in his personal collection for about 2 years.

Hi, my name is .... and I post flames about people all the time. Only caveat is, when it goes wrong, I just delete my posts like they never existed. If someone says something I will just tell them that I never said it and if they don't believe me, go look it up yourself....

"Hey wait a minute. I know I read it somewhere, where in the hell did it go?"

Way too comical for me.
