I have a triple beam ohas. You can use most any good postal scale that's accurate and just be sure to set it for grams for the most accurate measurement. What is a good (best?) scale for weighing cues? I had borrowed a friend's kitchen scale, but had to lightly hold the cue(s) upright and got variances. Also, that scale got destroyed in the house fire, so looking to get one better suited for cues (if possible).
This, Amazon kitchen scale with a set of rollers to hold it.I have an Amazon kitchen scale and put a kitchen towel on it to hold the cue. After zeroing it, of course. Works well.
Never occurred to me to use the straightness checker for that. I will in the future. This, Amazon kitchen scale with a set of rollers to hold it.
Place rollers, zero, place cue, get weight...
I thought about those in the past, but didn't really look because I pictured the old, spring-type ones with the metal needle! Don't know why I didn't figure they made electronic ones--especially since I would want the zero-out function, for the same reason (using something to hold the pieces to be weighed).I"ve always used a postal scale, specifically one that you can zero out. Cues like to roll so i need something to keep it in place.
I actually did look at balance-beam scales months ago, and even though I will generally buy one-use tools, I didn't think the cost was worth it. I kind of think beam-scales are fun to use too. :/I have a triple beam ohas. Important though is to not divide by 28. You have to use 28.35. otherwise on a cue that is say 20 oz, if you only divide by 28 you'll be off by a quarter of an ounce.
2 rubber bands work Great on Kitch scale with, oz & gm options!i have a little block of pine with groves cut in it to hold butt/shaft. just put it on scale, tare it out then put on the cue.

Put a nickel on a scale it should weigh exactly 5 gramsCheck out the resolution of the scale. The one I got has 0.1 gram resolution. Many of them are worse, like one gram.
I just mentioned it. I used to buy and sell gold so I have those scales. I once got stopped by a cop and they did a car search. Seems those triple beam scales were were a tip off for drug dealers.I actually did look at balance-beam scales months ago, and even though I will generally buy one-use tools, I didn't think the cost was worth it.
