So maybe I didn't make myself clear . I want to try a stiffer hitting cue which like you said most people like . Which I know all of these will have.
Maybe I was misunderstanding you some as you also mentioned not wanting to go to stiff since that isn't what you are used to.
Just know that asking people's opinions about how they like the hit of a cue is like asking about clothing. It would really be no different than if you said "I need to get a new set of clothes to wear, what should I buy?" Well the businessmen are going to tell you to get a suit. The casual guys are going to tell you to get jeans and a t-shirt. The bikers are going to tell you to get a leather vest. The dressy casual guys are going to tell you to get dockers and a button up shirt. The surfer guys are going to tell you to get shorts and a tank top. Etc, etc. Which one is right? ALL of them, for THEIR preference. Doesn't help you in the least though, not one single bit. What you need to ask is "hear is my clothing style preference, and with that in mind what specific items can you suggest that I will like that will fit my style preference?"
Even if the overwhelming majority says get a suit and tie, or get a leather biker vest, it doesn't mean a damn thing. Nothing. Simply because it is totally personal preference and everybody's preference is different. Now if you said you are a jeans guy and the overwhelming majority said get Levi's, then now it might mean something.
Since you don't yet have much experience with different hits, and apparently no super strong preferences, but want to try something different than the Meucci you do have a lot of experience with, then just pick something at random because the odds on whether you like it or not is going to be random chance. At your experience level you won't know until you play with it a good bit. Seriously, it doesn't matter what you pick, it is random chance whether you will like it or not.
The smartest thing you could do though is get what is closest to what you are used to and know you liked, even though none of them are very close. But the least furthest away in type of hit would be Pechauer with the Schon not too far behind that.
Or you can choose to intentionally get the most different and opposite kind of hit possible to gain some really new experiences. That would be Joss which is definitely the stiffest and most different from Meucci or Action.
Or you could go with the one that is the most popular by far, which is Schon. Maybe your preference ends up like the majority and you like it best. But with more Schons out there, more people have tried them, and of course that skews the results (EVERYBODY has hit with a Schon). More people would like Pechauers as an example if more people had been exposed to them but very few have. Availability has a big impact on popularity so even popularity doesn't necessarily tell you much.
The best bet and only real way to even slightly increase the odds that you will like it is to get what is closest to what you are used to, but outside of that, seriously, it really doesn't matter what you pick, just pick something at random because your chances of liking it are going to be completely random too. Especially at your experience level that is just how it is and you won't know if you will like the hit of a cue or not until you have played with the cue. Not trying to be curt, just telling it like it is. Outside of picking what is closest to what you know you liked, everything else is just completely random chance on whether you will like it or not and you might as well just write them all down on a piece of paper and throw a dart at it and go with the one that the dart hit closest to.
