I Just Wanted To Get An Opinion From Some Other Az'ers About A Fair Price To Ship A Cue. What Does Everybody Charge?

Im Asking This Because I Was Cursed Out By An Ebay Seller Because He Wanted $30 To Ship A Cue. Now This Would Be Fine With Me If 1) The Cue Is Insured 2) Packaged Well And 3) Received With In 2 To 3 Days.

$30 Didnt Include Any Of That. Insurance Was Extra And It Was Being Sent The Cheapest Way Possible Through Fed Ex.

Now Im Not A Cue Dealer Or Collector Im Alot Like Most People Here Who Just Enjoy The Art And Playability Of Pool Cues. Now I Have Sold And Traded Cues Many Many Times Over The Years And I Have Always Used Express Mail Which 99 Out Of 100 Times Is Next Day Delivery. We All Have Horror Stories About Cues That Have Spent To Much Time With Delivery Couriers.

Any Input Would Be Appreciated.

Thanks

ryne sandburg knows...

20 dollars including insurance is average. I ship USPS.......they seem to be the cheapest and they give you a triangular box that works well. Most of the time you can get the cue within two days.

I shipped two cues. But one cue is almost the same. I paid around $32 for Fed Ex express. I think it all depend on where the package goes. This amount does not even include the cost of the box.

I have shipped 100's of cues USPS priority mail for $15.00. Insurance is optional for the buyer, usually $1.00 per $100.00 spent. Never a complaint.

That's why if they don't list the shipping price in the ad I ask how much it will be before I bid, if they don't want to answer then they don't want to sell it very bad.

insurance though usps is actually like $1.35 for 50.00 and 2.70 for $100

typical cue through the post office priority mail packed well inside the triangle priority mailer from east cost to west cost is about 10.75.. the insurance is extra on top of that.. and priority is 2 to 3 day with is usually delivered in 2..

Ron,

For cheap cues some use USPS prioity mail with confirmation, insured, it runs roughly $12 and is fairly reliable.

For more expensive cues, I use fedEx tube 2 day air, I charge $25 for shipping which pretty much covers it. Sometimes I only charge $15 or $20 for shipping a cheap cue and send FedEx 2 day anyway and eat the difference , because I want the cue to get there safely and promptly and insured.

There's no real cost besides the shipping - I get the Fed Ex tubes free and pay a buck or two for bubble wrap.

Fees, Fees, Fees.

Although, I do not do it, some sellers attempt to recoup some of the selling fees through a handling charge. I mean is it really right for ebay to charge fees upon their fees.:(
Between paypal fees, final value fees and listing fees a seller has to give ebay about $20 to sell a $300 item. :( If it is not covered with a handling charge it will be reflected in the cost of the item.
When buying on line the purchaser must just consider the bottom line cost.
Never bid without knowing the delivery charges first.

I just shipped out a cue to CA from FL by USPS Prority in the triangle box with $250 insurance for $13.40 (took 2 days).

I agree, if you dont like the charge it would be best not to bid unless you really want the item. I dont like it either but alot of people feel there time is money which is not unreasonable. Your paying for there time to pack, drive to post office/fed ex/ups/ and waiting in line and packing supplies. Now those charges should be reasonable which is not always the case but some people live in rural areas and have to drive long distances to the shipper. Not really sticking up for the idea but I understand.

If he sent it slower Fed Ex Air with home pick up charge that is pretty close to what it would have cost him.

I usualy charge $10.00 max plus ins.usps 2-3 day priority for the lower 48. anything more is just theft if you call it shipping.

There are some exceptions but for the most part anything I sell on ebay or AZ is shipped free. In my opinion, free shipping on ebay entices more bids. If you package it properly, USPS priority mail is the way to go. A typical cue costs 10.00 to 15.00 to ship.
