Cue tips

Hey Guys/Gals with so many different cue tip brands which ones do you think is the best and why? Thanks for the info, JOHN

In my opinion the Kamui Black Soft is the best tip I have ever used. I had it put on my shafts about 5 months ago and it still looks like it did when I had it put on. It will not mushroom. The tips play consistent. I have 3 shafts (314/2) for my playing cue. And all the tips play damn near exactly the same on all 3 shafts.

I have always been a fan of the Moori medium. Shots well and lasts FOREVER.

But, I recently came into a cue with the new Everest Red Line. Has a red layer to tell you when it's time to re-tip. THAT TIP spins the hell out of a cue ball. I'm in the process of changing all of my cues over to this Everest layered tip.

I have the Kamui black medium on an OB-1 and Helmstetter maple shaft. To me, they play like Moori mediums back when Moori mediums all played like Moori mediums... (Stopped using Moori's because it got to where no two were alike)

The Kamui are pretty tall and if you like a 'ping' hit they may not be for you. I've read on these forums where some are cutting them down.

Seem to really last. I like a medium to medium soft tip. Hope that helps.

HEY John,I have been playing bout 25yrs and from MY experience a triangle tip is as good as it gets,no glued layers just a solid leather tip cut bout halfway down plays real sporty, archer and svb and alot of the other top pros play with them also.Alot of opinions on tips and thats just mine
Good Luck:)

There is no best tip. There are only what tips work best for you.

The better question would be which tip is preferred? Most people have tried a fair amount of tips and have their likes and dislikes. Some tips are more consistent than others. I personally like Kamui Black and Kamui II I have yet to get a bad tip using either and they play fairly well for me. The Tiger Everest is a good tip also along with the Sniper tips. I have used a Moori (m) that came on the WD700 shaft with my Mezz cue and while it plays ok I still like how the Kamui plays better. That's just me.

Wow, he asked it!!!!

IMO Wizard is my favorite. It is all about consistent med-hard feel with a nice sound. Good feedback when I'm punching through the ball.

I also really like Triumph and Triangle. Triangle is only third because sometimes they have a wierd softness which happens after it gets moist for spit and it just seems to expand and become soft. Only happened twice.

I also like Elkmaster, except for it doesn't give enough sound back to the player. Playability is good.

So, you can see that these are all pretty reasonably priced. Rare in tips these days.

I play with Kamui Black med, but I used S and SS with no problem. I have installed over 50 Kamui Black tips and never had one unhappy customer. I do cut few layers down. A friend of mine breaks with SS and still has the same shape! Great tips and they do last a long time.

tips

I have been playing with a hard black kamui which is a very good tip really draws and spins the ball well for a hard tip. On my other shaft I just put a milk dud from pooldawg8 I got for $4, this tip is excellent it hits like a hard with great feedback and you get draw and spin like a soft. I would recommend trying this tip for that price you won't regret it.

i liked the moori med a long time ago too...the only layered tip i ever thought was good. Nothing really beats a Triangle, i hate it when people complain about the consistency...JUST PRESS THEM! They are super cheap also...I can almost buy a whole box of 50 of them for the price of 1 of the layered tips.

I saw a really great playing tip once, but couldn't get hold of it - it was stuck on the end of Efren's cue.

Kamui Black. It is the most consistent and machines very well. It has qualities that I have never seen in any other tip and those qualities include grip on the ball, elasticity, they play consistent through the life of the tip, and they last for-freakin-ever......

I have had the occasional poor-playing-tip, but that is to be expected with any brand. I am a 'one-tip-kinda-guy' and if I were to choose only one tip, this would be it. I like some of the Tiger tips, but there is just something about these Kamui Blacks that just put them above the rest of the pack.

I just got a Hercules h2 put on my cue. I've only shot with it a couple times bit so far it's been great. I like it more than the lepro I was using and more than the tiger sniper.

What would you ever need with a box of 50 tips? Unless you're giving them out at Halloween or something ...
