cue weight...heavy vs light

Just more food for thought. I have a customer from New Orleans. Wanted 20oz cue and also built him a 22 oz break cue - said he needed that weight to play well. I think it may have something to do with the humidity, maybe moisture content of cloth slows down the action. Heavier cue moves the balls easier?? Since I haven't played in New Orleans I don't know. You ever have a chance to play there? But in Phoenix you have been dry for 140+ days?

The heaviest Q I ever made was 26 oz. It was a break Q & I collected in advance, because I knew I would not be able to sell it anywhere else...JER

PS...Don't listen too much to the people that say you should not play with a cue that weights over 20oz. Efren Reyes and Steve Mizerak both play with cues that weight over 20 and they don't play too bad.

Doug
I've heard that Efren played with a 23oz cue at one time. I don't know if this is true or not. Maybe someone here could shed some light on the subject...

It was heavy for sure. More than 21 oz and 60+ inches long.
The shafts came from a closed bowling alley floors at an American military base.
Made by a Filipino maker Jessie who is now retired.
It was the ugliest cue ever to have won the US, World 9-ball and World 8-ball.
Sprayed wrap, painted on checkers, heavy ss collar...
It was the ugliest $15 cue ever.
But it sure hit fine for Efren.

what ever you shoot better with is what you should use...dont use a heavy/light cue just because someone says so

I'm curious to hear why you think this is?
I prefer a 19.7 oz cue and the "no matter what" has piqued my curiousity.

Koop
By that I mean some ppl have told me certain games a heavier cue is better....but with a heavier cue you can't keep it under control aswell...especially the more tired you get, as stated earlier...also I have had ppl say that the bigger you are to go with a heavier cue, which I think is wrong too...

the same with a break stick....a lighter cue will accelerate faster, delivering a harder break...:D

Thanks for the clarification.

I agree the lighter stick will be quicker but when you have a stroke like mine every little bit helps :D
