I haven't paid attention to balance point for quite a while, but I think 19 inches from the butt used to be sort of standard for 57" cues. It seems to me that the balance point should actually be measured from the tip since the part behind your grip hand doesn't matter, and it is the tip at the cue ball, your bridge length and your stance that determines where you grip.On a 58" cue, what is considered a forward balanced cue and a back balance cue? Many variables come into play, but generally speaking..
