Hi
I currently play with an Adam blomdahl cue which weight 18,5oz and I feel it is a little too light for my taste. I played pool with a 21oz cue...
I think in a game where you must drive the cueball several rails a heavier cue would work better than a lighter cue, so why the most common weight of carom cues is around 18oz?

I agree with your logic. But someone else could equally argue the logic /preference for a lighter oz. cue.

Let me make an analogy in golf. Tiger Woods may play with Nike clubs and he may use a 8 iron on a certain shot. But his Nike 8 iron is not the same as your Nike 8 iron you buy. Chances are it has a different grip, a different shaft, and a different head degree. It may weight the same. Many carom professionals have their cue sponsors tweak their cue irrespective of the ounces. Different shaft/butt taper/weight distribution.

Play with what works best for your stroke and feel.

Well...I think you shoot faster with a lighter cue right?

A 19 oz carom cue may feel as heavy as a 21 oz pool cue because it's shorter.

Should add the rubber grap to the butt if you haven't.

Master Daniel Sanchez, being a small man, his cue is shorter than Blomdahl's and lighter than Coudron's... so it depends on you.

I think you need to have a really good stroke to be able to benefit from playing with a heavier or even longer cue. You think you got that Slh???

Cue speed is what drives the CB not cue weight. Break Cues I believe are lighter than the player cue. Of course there's exceptions. Currently my cues are under 16oz and can easily hit 8 rails, if I try I can do 10. Haven't yet done 11 with any cue weight. I do own 19oz cues but don't play with them, but thinking of going a tad heavier for other reasons. But not much.
