Trying to prepare for the near future. I will be the owner of a tapershaper as soon as it arrives. I am wanting to purchase stock to make 10 basics butt. I am thinking birdseye mapel and cocobola. I like the color scheme of these two woods. All with nice ring work! Any thoughts?? The cocobola in my opinions turns really nice and finnishes well to. My only experience with this wood is making approx 200 pens! And no not Bic pens, LOL, LOL

Do cue maker actually make one stick at a time. This would seem like a big wast of time. Setting up and tearing down, ect.

I recently bought Fiddleback Maple in a 2"x12"x10' board. I sawed it into 2"x2"x36" (approx.) pieces. Then I cut off slabs of about 1/4" from 2 sides, to use as inlay material. Then I cut 6 of these boards into 18" lengths & turned them round. Then I graded the 12 rounds & tapered the best, down to 1 1/2" on the small end. From there, I taper them much the same as I do my shafts. Giving a resting time, between cuts. At this time I have 36-18" pieces of this wood just oversized & ready to made into cues. If someone ordered a cue from any one of the woods I have, there would be anywhere from 10 to 36 pieces of seasoned 18" pieces ready. Leaving them at 18" means that I will always have a forarm & butt sleeve, that the color & grain will match...JER

You best invest in a good dust collection system and the best mask you can buy if you are working with Cocobolo.

Call Chris Hightower and order his SIX PACK SPECIAL.
You get everything (woodwise) to make six cues.
It is a good deal.

Some cue makers make cues one at a time but if you are setting up the equipment then it is a better use of time to batch 5 or 6 of them at each stage of operation.

Yep 4th power tool I evev bought. Got mask when I used to work with fiberglass. Talk about something that will kill you.

What do you guyes know about a down draft table. I have a few machines sitting on a bench about 12 inches wide, and 20 feet long. Could I box it in underneith say maybe 6" deep and put in a suction machine and make my own down draft table. I have a few laying around.
