What wrap material feels and plays most like a wrapless cue?
Any wrap with a finish sprayed over it. If you just like the look of a certain wrap, but the feel of no wrap, that's the way to go.
I've seen guys do this before and it doesn't look bad. One was a Schon with a ringtail lizard wrap and the other I saw was a Scruggs with a black leather wrap.
Why are you looking for a wrapped cue if you like the wrapless feel?
I'm far from a expert on the subject, but I would recomend a stacked leather wrap. Those wraps can be burnished to the point where it almost feels like there is no wrap.I have both, but like the wrapless feel. I have a really nice playing McDermott D4 that has a nylon wrap. Would putting a finish on it be ok for getting rid of that slippery nylon feeling?
Luke I bought a Scott Gracio cue for my girlfriend and she prefers wrapless as well so I had it rewrapped by Rick Howard with a black linen wrap and He refinished over the cue and she hasn't had a problem with it looks like it has an ebony handle now.
