What is your code of ethics?

( standards you go by in your cuebuilding )

First draft


- Safety First One can cause injury to oneself by not practicing
basic safety precautions
- Murphy's Law Do not assume anything (check made sure the parts
ARE faced off as perfectly as you can do) before glue.
Anything that can go wrong.....will go wrong
- Customer Service is EVERTHING Good communication with the
buyer is very important!!!! (and repairs after the sale)
-Build a Good Product ........it will sell itself. Word of mouth is the best
advertisement!!
- Be Humble It is not a good to self proclaim yourself as the best
master cuebuilder .....sense bread & butter (ew)
-Find your Place Find YOUR way of building a cue. Stick with it!!!
Do not compromise the construction of your work.
-Knowledge No matter how much I know....I know very little
Seek advice.....that's what az billiards is here for!!!!!
-ENJOY If you are not having fun....what the HELL are you building
cues for?
-Perfection is a Goal Nothing is perfect, but you have the control to make
it AS perfect AS you can! ( with the equipment you have
and the materials you use )

This list, when I get the final version, will be posted on the wall just above
the lathe. Not sure if I will ever be a cuebuilder.....maybe a cue assembler
of low end sneaky petes, But I will HAVE SOME FUN trying & do the best I can do.

sax, looks to me as if you hit the nail right on the head
i've got few house cues for you to practice on
pm me your info and i'll send them to you
 
I seriously doubt that there is any custom cuemaker that does not always do his best work. There are a couple of local cuemakers near me. They both do the best work they know how.
But doing the best work does not always mean that every cue is going to the best hitting in the world, but you can be sure that it won't be failing due to the quality of the workmanship.
Both offer excellent after sales service, and both have a very good word of mouth reputation.
As you outlined, without those ethics, anyone making cues won't last long.

It's a simple question to answer!
If you put a 100% in building every cue to best of your abilty you are 1/3 of the way there. Now add the other 2/3 and you have it.
If you build every cue the absolute best that you know how you have a good start. No cutting corners at all! Make sure if you don't understand something be Humble enough to call someone and then smart enough to ask about the problem you are having!

MOST OF ALL #1 Rule in my shop PATIENCE!!!!!!!

This list may be fine for a fellow to follow but what do most of these rules have to do with ethics? Seems that rule 4, 5, and 10 are the only things having anything to do with ethics. There needs to be only 2 rules to go by and that is:

1. To give your word to always do your best work possible
2. Never go back on your word.

Your absolutely correct.

I think I will title the list My top ten.........things to remember.

May change the order/ add/ delete ....from time to time.

I think that its more important be very exacting with your work and utilize frirst quality materials always.
