Last 16
Half of matches are fantastic matchups between 800+
SVB v Lee Van
Ko Ping Chung v Biado
Wu Kun Lin v Mario He
Shaw v Anton Raga

And good thing is they are streaming all these 4 matches on 2 tables

I also am really digging the split view.

One thing I've never really liked is a tournament that transitions from double-elimination to single-elimination. Then you have someone who has lost a match eliminating someone else who hadn't lost already. It just doesn't feel right.

I do understand time constraints and sudden death drama that combined might make such a format necessary/desirable from the perspective of the powers that be.

My question regarding that: how feasible would it be to have a DE-to-SE tournament where when the redraw at the final 16 (in this case) all 8 losers play all 8 winners at a one game disadvantage? Kind of like seeding, it disincentivizes losing and handicaps losers. In fact, it could even be that format through the rest of the tournament: losers have a one game disadvantage. So in this case, a winner would only have to go to 8 vs 9 for a loser.

That aporoach, or similar, seems like it would mitigate the inherent unfairness of the current format, and add drama to the earlier matches, which currently just treat a loss like a mulligan before bringing everyone back to even.

i think it was an 8-pack. but i'm usually wrong when it comes to that
SVB ended with a 6-pack. Lee Van got to the table for a brief safety battle in rack 3, then got one swerve shot he didn't quite make in rack 4. So three shots total, 0 balls pocketed.

He made 7 B&Rs in the match -- a 2-pack (Games 1 and 2) and a 5-pack to end it (including a 9-ball on the break). Games 3 and 4 were not B&Rs.

Commentators said Moritz put on a 7 pack v Alcaide yesterday. True or False?

I don't know. I'm not watching that event much. And you quoted a mistake I made, which I deleted. SVB ended that match against LVC with a 6-pack, as Rocket354 posted. I watched the match on replay and thought it was a race to 9, so I quit watching after the 9th game! But SVB did, indeed, break and run another game after that, for the 6-pack.

Matchroom's FB says SVB had 9 break and runs, including a 7-pack.
The announcers couldn't quite remember by the end of the set and thought he ended on a 7-pack. At one point they were asking the chat denizens what had happened in the earlier racks. I'm guessing someone with the keys to the Matchroom FB page just relayed the erroneous conclusion the announcers settled on. Anyone can rewatch to confirm for themselves--the entire match was barely 40 mins.

Technically you are correct cos LVC pushed SVB cue in last rack and SVB missed the 9 so last rack technically does not count

ha ha. In the moment, the commentators are never correct. No one is keeping detailed records during the match, that's why. Even straight pool runs often have mistakes.
Yes. Commentators and Matchroom have habit of overcounting B&R. I recall in previous MR stats, they count as a B&R for non-breaker if breaker break dry and non-breaker run out
