OK. My final list.

1) Mottey (White)
2) Hercek
3) Schick
4) Ron Haley
5) Bob Manzino
6) Pete Tascarella Sr.
7) Dennis Searing
8) Ernie Gutierrez
9) Ernie Martinez (that would be an incredible read but good luck getting that one!)
10) John Showman
11) David Paul Kersenbrock (The only reason he is down here on the list is because while the read may be extremely interesting if approached the right way, the subject is also a little touchy.)
12) Tad Kohara
13) Eric Marryman (Last name might be wrong - Sugartree Custom cues! Excellent story there!)

That's it. While some of the other cuemakers that have been mentioned already may be good cuemakers, they are not quite at this level just yet.

It's Eric Crisp. :)

Mike Bender - Current information and cue designs and include stories and information when he started with DPK.

Dennis Searing

Mike Capone

Prewitt - I need to know more about this cue maker to understand how his somewhat plain cue designs can bring as much as they do.

Paul Mottey & James White

Actually Inside Pool should run a special mag on all the cuemaker interviews that have been done over the last 6-8-10 years. I remember Steve Mayhew did a bunch, then their is yours, that would make a nice compilation of articles for a read. I know alot of the names have already been covered.

mike webb.

would be a super easy interview for you fred.

he's a sweetheart.

builds a monster cue that MORE OF THE WORLD SHOULD KNOW ABOUT.

not only for him, but for the people who should be playing with his cues.

he is one article away from stardom.......give him that chance.

see you soon,

How about starting with Mr Bert Schrager. As i recalled he is the oldest and only living Internation CueMaker Association hall of fame cuemaker.

I do have a selfish reason for asking. I am using an old titlist conversion he made for me. It give me a strange wonderful feeling playing with that cue. I heard that his health has been suffering in the recent years. If he has not scumbered to his illness, then I would really like to know what it was like to rub shoulders with the greatest cuemakers that ever lived was like and how much influence did he have on the many great cuemakers of our time. Especially now when we still got the chance to if we are not too late.

I think any of these would make a good read

I know I'm going to regret this, but....

Since this is the gallery forum, I figured this might be the best place to ask. If there was one cuemaker you'd like to see an article about, who would it be and why?

Fred

Jim Buss
Joel Hercek
Paul Mottey/James White
Tad
Pete Tascellera

If I recall correctly Mr. Schrager was already interviewed and written about.

That would be nice. Maybe they can work on that after they figure out how to get the magazines to the people who paid for them every month.

By the way, have you ever contacted a cuemaker that refused to be featured?

Tracy

Yes.

When an IP columnists erroneously implied that Schon cues were made overseas, we offered to do an article with Evan Clarke (rightfully so). But he respectfully declined after I spoke with him for a bit. It's too bad, but I understand where he's coming from. Schon cues are made in America. Always have been. Always will be.

Bill Schick (one of the friendliest guys on the planet) also declined saying that he'd rather that I do the articles on the younger guys. Maybe he'll change his mind, cuz I'd love to put his story on paper. He's influenced so many cuemakers. Many of the articles already have his name in there because of his influence.

And, Mike Webb didn't really decline, but he is a bit too busy right now. But, Mike Webb fans shouldn't worry. He'll be in as soon as he frees up some time as until then, he'll be perpetually "next on the list." Mike is a great guy, and is doing some awesome work.

.

I did an article on Bert. It came out the same month (FEb '04?) that the International Cuemakers Assoc. named him to their Hall of Fame (I had no idea). It remains my favorite interview.

BTW, the website for InsidePOOL Magazine is www.insidepoolmag.com. At some point, they'll be re-doing their download section (afaik).

Assume you are talking Inside Pool Artical, if so I do not care, as I do not Subscribe, and when I can SNAG a Back Issue I only look at about 10% of the Magazine. alway read the Artical about cue, or Case Makers...:D

Murray,
You would have been on my list, if not for your hiatus. I hope you are using some of the freed up time to hit 'em.

I'd suspect a cuemaker would notice at least a slight increase in business after being featured. Perhaps he knows this and really is not at a point in his life, where he wants a lot of added work. He could also just be very generous and throwing bones to the newer guys, by declining. No matter what his motive, I can respect it. I would love to read such a feature though.
