Magik Wandzzzzz said:Hay, do any of you out there know what an OXYMORON izzzz ???
One example is when you join the words CUE MAKER with ETHICAL...now if the guy claims he BUILDS CUES rather than makes them, then you have a chance, that is of not having an oxymoron, just a chance.
One rule of thumb is that the farther away you are from your cue builder, the crummier the work will be. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL CUE BUILDER, don't call me up and think I can over the phone build you the perfect Magik Wandzzzz......we have to at least play a few games first, see what you can do against a decrepit 60 YEAR OLD MAN.......
But ETHICS and CUE BUILDING, well, please try not to use them in the same sentice {sp}---you will just be showing other what a fool you are.

Richard Black: I have owned 4 different RB's and they were all top notch cues and I have spoken to him and Ardis (his wife) numerous times on the phone and sent many e-mails and letters... and he always gave me great customer service and attention. I highly recommend his cues (they have an amazing hit!) and his service.
Scot Sherbine: I just got one cue restored and 3 shafts from other cues re-tipped and I must say that Scot produces flawless work from his shop. I had some difficulty contacting him at times, but other than that I give him two thumbs up.

Your comments are not only untrue, but also in very, very poor taste! Very unbecoming of one that has been around for a few years!

Those of you who are in the market for a new cue might want to give him a shot. He has a website, so if you google him I am sure it will come up.

I agree...We have been fortunate in that Jim's shop is two blocks from our pool room and is always helpful to offer information or help every time we ask. I see him at least 3 or 4 days every week and he is always a pleasure to talk to and always handy with any questions I have. His reputation in terms of quality work and honesty is unsurpassed. He has many times fixed flaws by other cuemakers at low costs to us. I highly recommend him for any custom work. Be prepared to wait a few months on cues though. He has a wait. You can visit his website at www.jimbuss.com I think is the address. I know my website www.cueandcushion.com has a link to his site on the CUES page. His brother George works with him and although not as well known as Jim still does quality cue repairs and manufacture. I have seen Jim destroy cues of his own that dont meet his expectations rather than have them go out at less than 100%.kollegedave said:I would like to add a name on here. A while back there was a cuemaker that posted some cues for sale here on the board. Several people, myself included responded. I have not gotten any response to my PM's and several of the buyers received defective/ shoddy workmanship cues and were told to either return them fore repair, or had their money refunded.
I am wondering why nobody has spoken up that did receive a cue, and commented on the results?
I am also wondering that although the cuemaker refered to my cue in a post, he has not responded to any PM's I have sent him?
This board and it's members deserve better treatment than this maker has given. I will not post his name here, unless others wish to pipe in.
On the other hand I need to commend those that deserve our support, or at least the ones I have had excellent dealings with...
Murray Tucker, Willie Cue, Divieney Cues, Joe Gold, Blud, Dave Jacoby, Jack Kopman, Jerry Rauzhauen, DZ, Bobby Jett, and John Collins and the gang @ Sterling
Please add to these comments so we can establish a list of those that Deserve our $$$$$
Support those that support the game and the playerz !!

Joe

Thumbs up in how you handled this situation. It's unfortunate but not all buyers can be pleased. You were professional and ultra-accomodating in offering to make him another cue for the same price. Many would have just said to heck with it.

Joe, I'm running a "ONE MAN SHOP"! Every thing that gets done has to be done by me. Every time the phone rings, I'm the one who stops what I'm doing and answers it. When someone has questions, or requests for pictures, or just wants to talk to a cuemaker via the internet or phone, I'm the one who has to make time to answer those. I'm also the one who has to order supplies, do design work in cad/cam programs, do repair work for locals who drop by at all hours (even though I clearly tell everyone to call for an appointment first) take passes on shaft wood, repair and modify machinery and even occasionally make some cues. I'll be the first to admit that it can be overwhelming at times, especially when you're a newly wed trying to have some kind of a life outside of the shop! If you think I'm doing all of this for the money, you haven't a clue about this business. I do it because I love the work, but I have to admit that it's getting harder and harder to make that statement, when I have to drop what I'm doing to defend my actions when a simple email or phone call would have gotten an answer.
just more hot air!

I do not share your opinion.
I guess that makes me a fool in your eyes because I believe in fair treatment and honest work.
cuesmith said:Sean,
I do appreciate your comments. I have no intentions of getting into a pissing match with someone so cowardly to take cheap shots, hiding behind an alias! That person had nothing to do with the cues, the purchases or anything else that I can tell, other than to knock me. I don't believe there were any people who were unhappy with the transaction. There were a couple of people who, for one reason or an other, did not like the cues and they were refunded their money immediately. Most of the cues found very happy homes! Unlike some people who post here I'm a firm believer in two things. 1) The Golden Rule (hopefully that doesn't have to be interpreted) 2) What goes around, comes around! I have a clear conscience! God Bless!
