thats all I am asking for....where do I send the cash?

Don't send any cash yet, I'm already behind from an illness and feel bad about it but as of today, I'm free and clear to fire up the music and get rockin again.

I haven't read through this entire thread, and I apologize if this has been asked already. What are pre-made blanks?

As far as buying a cue, or really anything else, how's that saying go? Let the buyer beware?

I just love cliff hangers. Start a bunch of #%&#, basically grouping people together as phonies, because one or 2 bad apples were not totally honest with their buyers, and on top of that will not even come clean with who these fictitious characters are.

This just hurts the honest people, more then the dishonest ones. No big secrect that the majority of people use a blank for Sp's conversion stuff.

If someone is being dishonest, then I aggree it's wrong, and It should be known, but leaving things to imagination, and grouping everyone together as phonies is almost as wrong IMO.

The makers on these lists are at the top of the food chain.

Nothing that we say on this site is going to effect them one iota.

And, they're not phoney, etc., they just allowed people to assume what they did.....just like I did when I got a couple cues from GEORGE:grin-square:

Wish I had typed this.

Either say what you are saying tikkler or say nothing at all....otherwise whats the point?

Unless it's to cast doubt on em all.

Steve. I checked out your thread as requested. I do think people need to be upfront with what they are selling. I think most cuemakers use tips, pins, bumpers, colored veneers and wraps made by suppliers. I don't think those need to be mentioned when selling a custom cue as I believe that is the norm for most people. I have hand made some of those parts before as I am sure many others have but it just does not make sense to make those inhouse unless something special is needed. I can barely sew much less braid my own linnen. LOL.
I do believe a cuemaker should be able to make all parts of a cue from raw materials to be considered a custom cuemaker. I don't have a problem with cuemakers using old cues, premade vpoint forearms, sneaky blanks/fulsplice blanks to fill customer requested orders so long as the buyer knows what they are getting upfront. I have used customers premade fullsplice blanks in the past as well as schmelke sneaky blanks and existing cues to be cut up and rebuilt into new customized cues. I really prefer to only use my own wood as I know it's history and construction. I really shy away from peoples premade stuff anymore as I have seen several issues over the years and do not wish to have my name associated with the end product.
I cannot speak as to what other people are using to build their cues but, as for me. I will be happy to provide pictures of me working the cue from raw materials thru too a finished cue for anyone who asks when placing their order. I will be happy to send pictures of my wood storage room to show that I really do age my wood and not just order it the day I take a cue order.

Could You point me to the list? I guess I'm missing a big part of the puzzle here, and probably why I don't get what's going on:confused:

Thanks

OK you got me....what does WICO mean?
Nick

WICO was a company that was making cue forearms with vinyl colored veneers. Gus used a handful, national and Viking all used these forearms.

Did Bushka deceive his buyers?

I don't think so... all his buyers wanted the best playing cue they could get and he delivered. As I said back then no one gave two craps about where the parts came from. He wasn't trying to appease an ACA or some group of collectors.

I agree 100 %....but all I ask is dont be an assembler trying to disguise yourself as a true complete craftsman. As I said before I am fine with either, as long as I know what I am getting..Steve

But if your "fine with it" way do you care then? If they can build, put together or assemble the cue you want them to make for you why does it matter? I mean you must have gone to them for some reason to start with so you must like the way they Build, put together or assemble a cue. Do you simple want to know what their total level of cue building skills are?

I can see your point, in a way, but for me if I went to a cue builder (or thought he was one) and he told me he uses old bar cues because he can't turn down a butt I wouldn't be fine with it. :grin-square:

You know what else is wrong?? To create a list of great cuemakers, Then
make a make a damning statement and cast suspicion on everyone of them
as being a fraud. You may as well create a list and say one is these is a murderer. I really think you should clear this up asap!
