Wow nice cues. Good luck with your selling. I think the cues and price(s) speak for themselves. I like the ring work on the wood Gilbert, its unique...

How much for the Bill McDaniel?

Shorty

I'm looking for around $1800. This is one of the only McDaniel cues I have seen with a solid ivory joint. It has ivory inlays, snakewood, two shafts with ivory ferrules and layered tips. This cue is in excellent condition, almost like new. Bill's steel jointed cues have a reputation for playing well (I agree) but this cue hits much sweeter as only a cue with an ivory joint/big pin can.

What does the Phillippi in the first batch of cues go for?

Mike

I would part with it for $800. It has two shafts and a leather wrap. It is new, I got this cue personally from Rick Phillippi at his shop a few months ago. This cue has a lot of work in it for the money, but as you can see the style is a little unusual. Overall it is a very nice cue though.

Edit-I was looking at the wrong picture so the description and price above is not correct. The cue asked about above retails for $5000--it is loaded with ivory, silver, turquoise, and malachite and only two with that design have been made. I wouldn't part with it for less than $2500.

how much for the scruggs sneaky? did scruggs make it himself, or his partner? also, how old is it? thank you, joey

please email me with prices on the dayton and jensen..........what are they seperate and what would a package go for.......please let me know.....juston

The scruggs SP is around ten years old. I do not know who exactly in the Scruggs shop made it. As with any cue shop where there is more than one person in the mix, you never really know. The price on this cue is $650, it seems high I know, but here is how I arrived at that price:

1. Purchased it for about $350 a few years back.
2. Had it refinished by Phillippi cues for $100.
3. Had a Predator shaft blank custom matched by Phillippi cues for $200.
4. Scruggs SPs are always in demand and will continue to go up in value.
5. This SP is a little different due to the cocobolo joint and buttcap.
6. It is a great playing cue and one I wouldn't mind keeping.

The Jensen Titlest is $1000.

1. I purchased the cue with only one shaft.
2. Had a second shaft with ivory ferrule made by Phillippi cues.
3. Had leather wrap put on by Phillippi cues.
4. This cue plays awesome, it was my playing cue for a long time.

The Dayton is $800, maybe $700 for an easy, no nonsense deal.

1. Has an ivory joint.
2. Has two old wood shafts.
3. Has been refinished by Phillippi cues.

The Dayton butt was not perfectly straight when I got it (in a trade), it lifted slightly at the joint when rolled. I had Phillippi cues turn down the butt just a bit when they refinished it. It is now good.

For the Jensen and Dayton as a package deal, I would go $1650 to your door within the USA by Fed-Ex two day shipping.

you have $650 in the cue.... its 10 years old..... if you have a 10 year old car that you paid 10k for, and you put 20k into it, do you expect to get 30k for it? just seems a little high. good luck with your sales..... joey

Not if the car is a '63 corvette coup!

Your logic does not apply to the Scruggs SP, or Franklin SW's, or Gus Szambotis. These are out of production and in demand.

That said, I agree it's a little on the high side...

On the surface the cue does seem high, see my original reply, but when you look into it the price is fairly reasonable.

Scruggs SPs are well known as among the best playing SPs out there. This combined with the fact that they are always in demand yet hard to get drives up their prices. I have seen plain, crooked, beat to hell Scruggs SPs sell for $250. Add in the $300 of extra money I put into it along with the uniqueness of this particular cue and you're in the price range I'm quoting.

The age of a cue is almost irrelevant. You need look no farther than those earlier mentioned as well as Schick, Harris (Bluegrass), DPK, Josswest, Tascarella, Gina, Black Boar, Tad, etc. For example, just two weeks ago I just sold a 1994 Bluegrass for probably twice what it originally sold for. Also, at the Derby I traded away a 1999 Lambros for more value than it originally sold for. This kind of thing happens all of the time with certain in demand cues. Scruggs SPs certainly fall into this category.

Regardless, some cues I'm partial to and some I'm not. I really like this cue and am not really looking to sell it. It is a great playing cue, looks sharp, is plain yet different enough to be unique, and it will go up in value as the years go by. On the flip side, some of my other cues I'm not attached to and will sell them for any reasonable offer that comes along.

he used to make petes, he no longer does. and he referes people to i believe who used to be his partner. i don't remember the name. you can find scruggs sneaky petes, but they are used and aren't cheap.

thanks
