Cues weight decreasing

I have an odd question. Lets say you built a cue for someone and when it left your shop it was 19 oz. After the cue got to it's new home, would you expect the cues weight to remain 19 oz, Or is it possible for the cue to get heavier or lighter depending on the climate. I would think a small change is possible, but not sure of how much of a change is possible. Do you think that a cue's weight can increase or decrease by as much as .4 ounces over the span of a year?

Thanks for your input.

I do not think a cue can change that much unless it is in a abusive situation.

Was they same scale used both times?

No, different scales. Ithought that might be a problem. I'm gonna double check my scales today to make sure of their accuracy. I'm not sure what type of scales were used on the other end.

tho i completely agree with chris....

Im not sure on the math....but if someone built me a cue in the Colorado mountains and sent it to me in southern louisiana....I wonder if the altitude could play a part in the "real" weight....since scales are variable with height/strength of gravity.

in that case the cue's actual MASS would not change, but the weight would....as weight is variable. MASS is not.

besides that i don't see really any way a cue can gain/lose basically a half oz of water.....thats a ton of water.

i have seen cues from the Las vegas or going to Las Vegas change up to .25oz so i guess .4oz is possible.i would think las vegas to LA or maybe even overseas during monsoon season could do it,i think the shafts are especially effected.

I was kinda thinking along the same lines. Going from a humid area of the country to a dry area. I don't think that's the case here though. Hopefully it's just the scales on the other end. I took my scales to my local mailing center today and got the same reading as theirs.

I've observed the same thing. Same cues weighed on the same scale.
