Cues with Gold or Silver inlays

I have not seen many, but I saw a cue that Bob Owen made
for someone that had gold inlays about 1/2" from the points
going around the end of the points in an elongated upside down
U shape. It was very striking, especially with the wood in the
forearm, and I have never got that picture of it out of my head.
I believe, don't hold me to this, the cue was selling for $1,800, and
it looked every bit of that.

Anybody have information or pics of cues with gold or silver inlays
that look good that they would want to share.

Last year Alex Brick showed me a solid ebony cue that was loaded with silver. It wasn't my style, but it was very nice.

I just got a cue that has silver arrows inside ebony inlays on a birdseye forearm.....It is not a super fancy cue with a whole ton of inlays, but I like it.

I will post a pic tonight...

A friend of mine has a Cue built by Mike Bender for him personally 7-10 years ago with some Gold Ring Work.

I believe the guy when he said it was 14 Karat Gold. As he is not a teller of stories.

Problem with Gold & Silver in Cues is once the Finish is on, who know for sure if it is not Silver Colored, or Gold Colored Metal, and not the real thing or visa Versa.

I have seen one with 14K Gold inlays. It was built by "Larue" Larry Haymes when he had his shop at Bakers in Tampa. I may have a pic of it in his color flier, i am not sure. I will check next time i go into my archives.:D

Alex Brick at JOB Billiards in Madison TN makes fantastic cues. The Ebony and Silver is a work of art. If you get to JOB's, ask him to see it. He has a cue repair shop located there.

Theres gold in them hills"I meant cues"

I just ordered a cue from Dennis Searing and asked about 14k gold in it.He said it would be no problem but would want to keep it at a mininum so as not to make it too heavy.I will post a pic in a few years when i get it.:D

My son recently inlaid a forearm with Silver points and matching butt sleeve. We will reveal the cue at the Hopkins Expo. The points are made of ten pieces of silver each. It is very pretty work inlaid into figured Bubinga.
There will be over 100 pieces of silver in the butt.

Ricco cues have gold in them. They seem kinda heavy to me.

All Cognoscenti cues have silver inlays

Joe Gold has been making cues with lots of silver inlays for more than 10 years...some with hundreds of silver inlays. Each of his rings are made with 30 pieces of silver (a biblical reference to the 30 pieces of silver paid to Judas, to sell out Christ)! I've also seen his cues made with gold inlays, as well. None of his precious metal inlays have any negative effect on how the cue is weighted, or how it plays.

I heard you beat the 36-ball proposition on 5 racks of one-hole in 5 innings not counting the break with it.

I've had an older Scruggs with 14 kt inlays in floating teardrop points. I'll see if I can scrounge up some pics and post them. IMO Tim Scruggs does some of the best gold inlay work I have ever seen, although I have not seen much. I think gold looks striking in ebony if done well.

Basic use of Ebony / Birdseye and Silver.....but more important....I like the way it plays....:)

A friend of mine 10 years ago had Thomas Wayne make a cue with large gold nuggets that he had collected over the years in the points and butt …very nice. Unfortunately he passed away last summer & I have no idea what happened to his cues.
