Cues you see in your area

Cues of eastern Florida...

Down here the big cue is the Muecci sneaky pete. All the hustlers and gamblers want one. Pete Omen's cues are very big in this area, since he lives here. Predator seems to be the big cue of the serious pool players of the areas. I see a few Schon's on occasion, but mine is the nicest one around...*grin* I see a few Joss's, and a few normal production Muecci's and Cuetec's, but that's about it. The only custom's you see are Omens.

Shorty

Around here everybody has there own favorite, There are a couple Mottey's, Black, Oliver, It's George, Gilberts, Dieckmans, I own a Schular, play with a BCM, my wife's BCM is being built right now, and then there are your typical production cues Viking, Joss, McDermott, Muecci, and yes Predator

In the Austin area, there are quite a few JossWest, Scruggs, Olivier, Woodworth, and if you're lucky, a Eurowest.

The rest are primarily production...

In CT , Drexler (PFD) is the local maker, also Mottey, southwest, phillippi (sp?), coker(sp.) and most others can be seen sporadically, a lot of production pred. etc.

, Wally World Specials

I'll have to get one of those LOL

Where I live (north of Cincy) Meuccis abound.

Closer to Cincy I have seen a couple of Southwests and some of Sherm Adamson's cues and one by Dickie Nabors.

A couple of guys here bought cues from Jimmy Reeves out of SC. He used to work with Mike Gulyassy. He makes a nice cue.

Schon, Joss, Skip Weston, Richard Black, Paul Fanelli and of course Predator.

Well Jack Colavita plays with the Black, I play with whatever is in my case at the time, lately a Szamboti, any one want to guess what Paul Fanelli plays with? lol We tend to see a lot of stuff, Skips, Fanellis, a lot of Predators, Meucci's, a South West here and there.

I'm in lower Manhattan in NYC and there is a mix of cues at my local hall. A lot of Capone's and Kenny Murrell's. Skip Weston, Southwest, Predator, Tascarella, Dale Perry, and Muecci.

Including myself, there are maybe 6-8 cue collectors and aficionados/connisseurs at my hall.

Lot of the same in the beechmont area, which is Sherm's area. But, Dickie's last name is Neighbors not Nabors (www.dickiecues.com)

Just out of curiosity:What custom cues do you see frequently in your area? This forum obviosly has members from a very broad geographic area and i think to a certain extent custom cuemakers enjoy more popularity in their home area so i just wondered who makes it to the hands of players where you live?ThanksM.S.

One time I went to a Monday night tournament at a PH that is no longer in business. There were 11 of us players. Out of the 11, 7 of us were playing with Szambotis - 4 and 8-pointers, Gus' and Barry's. It was a be-yoo-ti-ful sight!!

Custom Cues in our Area.

Recently we have seen an influx of custom cues in our area. Most recently the number of Gilbert Custom Cues has risen in our pool rooms. We also have a few Rick Howard cues. I personally play with a Coker cue and a Gilbert cue. I have a Runde cue and a Ernie Martinez cue. There are Mottey and James White cues being used as well as a few cognoscenti cues and small variety of others. We still have a lot of muecci and production line cues in the pool rooms here but have seen alot more players moving to the custom cue side lately. :)

Out in the west, I'm starting to see more and more Bobby Hunter cues. He has some new designs that are really nice. Cousins cues used to sell okay around here also.

Are there any cuemakers in the SF/Bay area that are known for top quality work?

Up here in the frozen north, the majority are Dufferins, Falcons, and Meuccis. But Layani's pop up here and there as well as a few Predator (mostly break) cues. I have a couple of Layanis, a Sheldon Lebow, J. Pechauer, WilleeCue, a Falcon, and a Barry Cameron.

The best hitting cue I have found is a 60" 18oz very skinny butt Martin that a room owner in Alliance owns. He has a $2500 Josey with the same specs but plays with the Martin. I have owned 2 McDaniels, 2 Padgetts, a SouthWest, a Black Boar, a Nova, a Bludworth, and the Martin hits as well as any.

Here in Maryland, we have an abundance of local, top quality, cue makers.
I no particular order, I see a lot of cues by the following makers:
Tim Scruggs
Mike Lambros
Black Boar
Phillippi
Ted Harris
Bob Frey
Joss

Of course, I see other customs, occassionally, and the usual array of cues from the major manufacturers.

What's funny is that Danny Tibbits and Chris Hightower live just a stones throw away from me, but very little of their cues are found in the rooms near hear. Recently, i went to South Carolina to play and stopped in clemson and talked to a guy with 3 Danny T's. and 1 Hightower. And he lives in PENN. It's just a little bizzare the way things work out.

On the cheap side, lots of Players, Cuetec, Lucasi with some Meucci's and Mcdermott's scattered around.
Seeing more J. Pechauer cues lately.

Since I'm in Md. I see lots of Joss, but mostly newer cheaper stuff. Occasionally a Tim Scruggs.

I really don't see too many custom cues up here ( North of Baltimore ) but am seeing lots of Predator shafts.

I live in the Chicago area and frequent Chris's billiards and Palace Billiards...
I see
Schulers, Sailors, Cognescenti, Oliviers, Olneys, Devaynes, DPKs, Ed Youngs, Espiritus, Nittis, Southwests, Miraposas, Gilberts,
Blue Grass, Joseys, Scruggs, Josswest, Westons, Benders, McDamiels, Bludworth, Hercek, one Barry Szambotti
I don't see many Cuetecs in the "player" rooms but do in the kid rooms.
Jacksons, Meuccis, McDermots, Jacobys, Schons, Predators,
Novas, Joss, Pechauer...all the major production cues
I myself own a Sailor, Schuler, Brick, 2 Ned Morris, Tragger, and a Nitti.
I'm currently on the hunt for a Scruggs sneaky and a Schick sneaky.
ruk

I run a league in Sunny Calif. and in part i guess because he used to play in the league they are quite a few players who have Ed Prewwit cues. I also see some strange things in my league. One of the top player's in the league for the better part of a season played with a Al Romero sneaky pete and broke with a Tad. Another guy play's with a Joss and breaks with a Prewitt.

Different strokes I guess.
