Cuetec Fires Strickland

"I can't get any better with that cue anyway," Strickland insisted. "If they [Cuetec] made a better cue, I'd still be winning. But I was handicapped with that cue. I was at a 2-ball disadvantage against a guy like Mike Immonen playing with a good wood cue...And they never treated me right."

As for who would suffer more from the break-up, Strickland responded pointedly. "I made Cuetec," he said. "They didn't make me."

Just a thought.... But if they make such a bad cue that no one can get any better with, why is Allison Fisher one of the best???

Who knows... maybe it will be better for everyone involved.

Earl was set up.

Cuetec is to blame for all of Earl's misfortunes and the reason that he recently went out in two. (lmao)

With a fiberglass shaft, you don't have to worry about dents when you rake the balls. I can't begin to count the number of times I would have raked if I was using a CueTec. It's an irresistible urge, and the whole situation borders on entrapment.

...Strickland insisted that the production cue contributed to his poor play in recent years, which in turn contributed to his ornery behavior.

Gs...the cue can make the player in some cases but when your such i high caliber player you should be able to play well with anything...and if he didnt like the cue why didnt he just tell cuetec that he wanded a wood cue?

edit: does cuetec make wood cues, i was on there site awhile ago and i thought i saw wood cues

Typical Earl, blaming everybody except himself. I hope he won't lose any more
marbles after losing his major sponsor. On the other hand, I knew someone
looking for an OCD model for a commercial or the tried and tested Prozac, he'll
be a puuurfect fit!

Earl Strickland sponsored by Prozac...lol...oh man, that's awesome

Earl

I don't think have any trouble finding a sponsor. Look at all the different bad boys in sports. Rodman, Bob Knight, etc. They still have no problems making money. One thing is for sure, at every big tournament I have been to, when Earl plays in a match the biggest crowd always surrounds the table he is on. Like him or hate him, he always draws attention. I personally hope one day Earl straightens out. When he was playing his best 9- ball, he played the game exactly how I love for it to be played. Aggressive as hell. What a talent he has.

The funny part is....Earl has NOT played with a Cuetec shaft in a long, long time...dare I say ever!!!;)

I don't think Cuetec make custom made maple shafts.
Some NoCarl dude makes em for him.

Earl has needed season tickets to a good shrink for years, however he did make himself cue-tec didnt. He will be fine he is gifted and almost impossiblee to beat when everything lines up just right in his mind and perhaps not having a sponser making more voices in his head he'll play alot better. Further more if thats true he'll win more $$ than he was being paid to endorse phony cues.

I may be wrong, but I highly doubt that Earls cue was just some run of the mill production Cuetec. Wouldn't surprise me a bit if it was some special shaft, ferrule, and tip that you wouldn't typically find on any Cuetec on the rack.
Anyone have any firmer info on that?

Oh dear, I just had a rather long debate over this subject. This sadly makes my point. If Earl really was marketable this would never have happened.

I know many people did agree with my points on professionalism and how closely linked it is to attracting sponsors (thanks btw) I hope this further enthasises this point.

But still lets hope Ealr finds a good cue and gets his TOP game back.

I saw one person ask earlier "why is allison so good if Cuetec sucks so bad?" I have the exact same question. No one seems to want to answer that.

I bet you're right. I tried to find Earl's cue on Cuetec's webpage, and maybe it was just my eyesight or possibly the video, which was a bit fuzzy, but I couldn't even find a butt that looked quite like the one on his cue. That he was using a custom shaft I think goes without saying. Earl probably used Cuetec cues the same way Tiger uses Nike clubs. The name brand is there, but good luck finding that same configuration at your local pro shop.

he's ending it now cuz earl is old and going downhill, so all there is left are his rants.
