You walk into a new pool room. Your cue's back at the hotel.

On the wall is a mixture of standard wood "house cues" in various weights and sizes that have been well maintained by the house pro. Over in the corner is a floor rack that contains several CueTec fiberglass cues in various weights and sizes that have also been well maintained by the house pro. Both are available to anyone who rents a table.

After you rent your table, which cue do you select: The standard wood house cue, or a CueTec fiberglass cue?

This is a solid "advanced " move;)

the house cue for me:)

Based on the house cues that I usually see, even if they're well maintained, I'd go for the Cuetec. Plus I'd want to try it out just for the heck of it. If the house cues were unusually good, I might change my mind.

If the house cues are Dufferin or old style Valley and in good shape with proper tips. I would probably use one of them.

Choosing a housecue:

1. Tip condition
2. weight
3. shaft condition (smooth, clean, not severely warped)

On the rare occasions I find myself using a house cue, as long as these three conditions are met it doesn't matter. It comes down to which one I find first.

Good Rolls,
Rasta

CT for me...had one for years.

I may start another poll on this...was thinking about it before I saw this one.

The words Trashy and POS come up often.I know its no schon...but good goobity guys...its not THAT bad ime.

I had a cuetec before.i liked it.

I dunno why everyone keeps hating on cuetec. I bet half the people that hate on it never even played with one before, just know someone that knows someone that knows someone that saw someone on the opposite end of the pool hall holding a cue that possibly looked like a cuetec.

I usually get more action with a cuetec purely because of the taper. house cue tapers usually bother the living hell out of me. at least dufferins and lucasis...

If CueTec gets more votes in this poll, I will enter the Derby City Classic One-Pocket Tournament next year playing with a CueTec.

Perhaps I have been blinded by my love for great playing cues, could it be that watching the "Hustler" and the "Color of Money" over and over and over again has warped my mind? Perhaps it's time for me to forgive my parents for being imperfect........

CueTec...I want to go to sleep but I'm afraid of the nightmares that are awaiting!!!!

I would use a house cue over a Cuetech. However, I would use a cuetech over those cues that have lights flash in the butt every time it hits the cue ball. I wont even let my 6 year old have one of those.

On the flip side ,it would make a perfect hustler's cue. Because anyone seen with one of those will instantly be labeled a banger.

In closing, if you are not a 200 ball runner, and own one of those light up cues, SHAME ON YOU.:D

The cuetec house cues play very well. I have played the best of my life with a 21oz cuetec of the rack.

I now find myself in the twilight zone. Hopefully, there are still a few "real" men out there that can be honest.

Ok guys....anyone care to stand up and tell it like it is?

I have one.It was the only cue I had for many (4 or so) years.I made a lot of balls with it...got good shape with it... and won a lot of games.Lost some too...but I did not blame the cue.
The Game can be played and won with it.Period.

Its no custom or high end production.I'll agree.

But many..too many imo...would have you believe they REALLY would rather play with a broom stick then a cuetec.

I disagree...and that is this "real" mans honest opinion.

There is also a difference between opinion and fact.Look it up.If someone disagrees with your OPINION it does not mean that they have gotten a FACT wrong.

Ok...I feel like the guy that has to tell you that you're brother's dead. One day, it may be years from now, you will look back and ask yourself, "CueTec? what was I thinking"?

Greg you really have a hard on for bashing Cuetec. Did someone beat you with one or something?

All you need to do is provide a list of things that make a quality cue and we'll go down the list and check off all the things where Cuetec doesn't apply and you'll have your proof that it's a trashy cue. How easy is that?

You don't need to obsess over it and put up pathetic pleas for affirmation like this poll?

Just define quality as pertains to a pool cue and we solve this easily.

LOL.

The facts is what they is man.....and I may not buy another as my game has progressed a bit...from there to muicci...and now finally a Dale Perry.

Each is different.BIG BIG difference between #1 and #2....Number 3 is in between the two (solid hit wise) but with better balance and "feel" imo.

But the fact is...REALLY...I can still play with my ct.
I'm no world beater by any stretch....or maybe I am.....After all,I have run a rack of 9 ball or two with the worlds worst cue lol.

I'm not saying they are great...hell I don't sell em......I'm just saying they can play balls, give shape and win.

Its not just you on the boards that would give the impression that if it were the only cue out there you would have to quit the game.No way in hell you could play a ball with it I'd guess.

The negative opinions are over the top imo.I can see why they do not catch a lot of praise....but I'm lost on the super negativity.

No John...I don't have a "hard on" for bashing Cuetec cues. This poll was constructed in a fair and honest manner.

I would like to know the "truth"...and if that's a sin, then God strike me down right now!

As far as John Barton...I hope you find the Lord and stop your attacks on everyone that disagrees with your views. And please stop talking about knocking me in the head...because everyone that know me, will tell you, that would be a HUGE mistake.

Peace...out!!!!!

I choose the cue that has the best balance for me. It may be a house cue or it may be one of the CueTecs. I have played in places using CueTec house cues and played very well with them.

Just to provide a little clarity for those who may not be entirely familiar with Cuetec.

Cuetec cue are WOOD cues with fiberglass or graphite shells over the wood. Cuetec cues are engineered to have the same feel as all-wood cues and be resistant to warpage and enviromental effect. Whether Cuetec has achieved the goal of making composit cues that do feel like wood cues without the shells is debateable. Some feel that they do play like wood cues while others find them unresponsive.

I personally do not like the feel of a Cuetec but I can play very well with one provided the weight is too my liking.

Cuetecs generally remain straight. The ferrules don't bulge. The shaft are available in a variety of tapers. The new ones have a unique and easily changeable weight system. The company has always been responsive to the needs of players by introducing many innovative construction techniques. In response to folks who prefer the feel of wood sliding through their fingers the company they created the Vortex shaft with a graphite crossbeam inside the laminated shaft. The Thunderbolt shafts have longer tapers.

If Predator had come out with the Vortex shaft then I can only imagine that those who love to hate Cuetec would be praising Predator for it's innovation.

www.cuetec.com if you want to read about these cues. Don't believe the hype that the haters would like to perpetrate. Try one and form your own opinion.
