I'm a big fan of cuetec and their s.s.t shafts but have never used an R360 shaft before. I was wondering if anyone knows how slim the taper is and how it compares to the s.s.t shaft. Thanks.

I believe the shaft is about 12.5mm, and has a fairly long pro taper. The hit is nothing like the SST shaft. I personally hate the SST shaft, but I like the R360 quite a bit. Fairly low deflection, and a pretty solid hit. Most importantly, it feels like a pool cue...I strongly prefer the feel, look, and hit of wood over the fiberglass.
I think if you like the SST shaft, you may not like the R360. That being said, a mid B level player near me converted from the SST to the R360. He absolutely loves it, and his game definitely went up. He is young and still getting better, so his game was going up anyway lol.

Yes the 2 sytles SST and R360 are like day and night.
Two very different animals.
One to love and the other to hate !

I have 3 generations of Cuetec shafts:
1) The classic (199x) fiberglass-clad 13mm
2) The SST 13mm
3) The R360, 12.5mm approx. Maybe 12.75mm.
I like Cuetecs for their durability. I don't mind lending them to casual players who sometimes bang them around.
My classic Earl Strickland Signature Series green/six-prong had been my go-to stick for all these years, and I was happy with it.
After a 15-year hiatus from pool, I recently acquired a R360 Cuetec (brown stain) http://www.ozonebilliards.com/cur3cue13.html
The first few hours of play, I wasn't entirely convinced. I felt the cue was butt-heavy. That is understandable as the shaft is about 1 oz lighter than the fiberglass ones.
After getting used to it, I found I could easily apply 40-50% more draw action on the cue ball. This is with the stock Tiger Everest tip, compared to my original cue with a Triangle tip.
This is my first low-deflection shaft so I can't compare but it definitely is low-deflection.
I am not shopping around for another cue: I'm entirely satisfied.
