Cuetec?

I had a chance to try a Cuetec with the SST shaft, basic cue, I must admitt it wasnt all that bad, I know alot of people dont like cuetec, but I honestly dont see what there is not to like.. Well, those designs maybe, but the performance is what matters.. It performed very well, I didnt expect alot, and I was not dissapointed.. Would I own one? sure, send me all the cuetec's you dont want, I'll take em all...:D Am I going to run out and buy one? No, but hey...I tried one and it wasnt bad..

I shot with one of those. Very stiff feeling, an annoying ticking sound for every hit, and not much feedback on my grip hand.

I have 3 for my house cues. I'd play just about anybody on this forum with any of them and like my chances...

Is it the best cue? No... But they are far better than bar cues but most people would rather be caught swinging a bar stick than a Cuetec :)

The stickiness is the only thing that makes the cue not worth using... Besides, the cue has little to do with a nice run...
 
I picked up a Cuetec Jump/Break Cue with SST Shaft earlier this year on eBay for $35.00 (I think I got a deal !!) and figured I would just use it to Break and Jump ... However, I had a Talisman Tip installed and now I use the Cue anytime I play in a Bar or for League Play ... I hear no "tick" sound at all and the cue plays about as good as you could want ... Several of the better players at The Jointed Cue in Sacramento have hit with it and couldn't believe how well it played ... I actually wear a glove anytime I use this cue to eliminate problems with humid climates ...
 
i agree, the only thing wrong with a Cuetec cue is that fiberglass coated shaft that gets sticky. other than that, when i am on, i play just about as well with the Cuetec as i do with any of my other custom cues. sometimes i can play a good rack of 9-Ball with my Cuetec, only missing two balls.

i found that sanding the shafts helps a lot with the stickiness. the tru-glide finish does not last very long and soon the shaft gets glossy like a piece of glass and thus very sticky. i found the best solution was to take some 220 grit sandpaper and very lightly sand the shaft until it is not smooth and shiny any more. this puts some very small scratches on the fiberglass which breaks up the surface glassiness and makes it slide very nice.
