I've mentioned it before, but thinking of SVB brings it to mind again;

Quite often, pool sharks, and road players have been likened to old gunslingers of the past.......and to go along with that, a lot of their names seem to come out of the Old West.... for examples:

Cole Dickson
Buddy Hall
Corey Duel
Dallas West
Johnny Archer
Grady Mathews
Shane Van Boening
Reed Pierce
C.J. Wiley
Earl Strickland
Wade Crane
Jimmy Wetch
Shannon Daulton
Billy Incardona

On another note, I've noticed SVB seems to be in a slump lately, as for
winning tournaments; actually he hasn't even finished very high up in the recent California tournaments.......just wondering why the falloff?

What did I just read?
 
I think I get the idea, a name like "Dallas West" sounds like a guy who came straight out of texas.
And "Johnny Archer" could be a nickname for some sharpshooting rifleman.

Not sure it works for some of these names, but an interesting thought.

As for shane...
I dunno what cali events he's entered, but he's made 75k so far and there's almost half the year left.
Maybe the smaller tournaments only let him play with a handicap or the races are so short he can lose to rolls.

Who could ever forget "Dead Eye" Dick Palmeroy, from Waco, Texas?
He used to come into Sally's place down in Galveston, and play One Pocket on the old five by ten.
He couldn't play pool worth a shit though, because he was blind in one eye. That's why they called him "Dead Eye." :smile:

In the "road playing days" there were many "outlaws" - it's not impossible to get to the top, but it may be to stay there.
