Hello All.

Turning to you guys for some help. While packing for my move I stumbled across my stash of curly gaboon I picked up long ago. I have been searching the interwebs and haven't had much like finding pictures of cues using this wood.

I am trying to decide if I should go the merry widow route to show off the wood or go all out fancy to make the most of it?

Does anyone have any pictures of curly gaboon cues that might help me pick a direction? Thanks for your time.

If you google Gabon curly ebony cue, and click on images, you will get a page full of cue pictures.
Some of them are for ebony cues with curly maple, but you may find several that use a wood close to yours. Good luck.

I thought gaboon was mostly black with lil to no visible
grain. I've seen brownish spots, but never figured.
Could you post a pic of the piece you have.
Sounds very interesting.

I have had lots of curly ebony that looked amazing until finish. Once finish goes on, the curl is no longer visible. It's just black.

I agree with Eric. Looks great until finish. Then just black.

I had a lovely piece of very curly Gabon Ebony and was sure that it would be terrific when finished - WRONG - once clear coat was applied it was just very nice Ebony - with no curl . . . sorry but that is the reality. Paul
