custo, cues and makers,

This would be anywhere from 8 to 10 years ago. Im not exactly too sure of that date. That might be even off alittle.

When I was younger I bought so many new cues with my winnings I cant place the exact date.

hmmmmmmmm. about 10 years ago is when i encountered two bludworth cues with warped butts. i've had a negative opinion about them since,,,,,until now.

looks like i'll have to take down my www.bludworthcueswarpallthetime.com site. :D

Remember guys, a many of fine cuemakers are out there. I have always said, my cues are not for all and all are not for my cues. I don't mind helping others sell there cues. Most will not make the statements that I make. They think helping others will cost them a sale. "SO WHAT", if it does? If all "cuemakers" would help each other, instead of knocking the other guy, we would all be better off.. Some of these guys just have a "big ego" problem, about there cues. They think and say, [mine is best], Please.....I will and have helped a great deal of cuemakers, over the years. It hasn't hurt my income. I think if it did anything at all, it's improved all cuemakers sales..
rock/roll

I recently traded for a brand new sneaky pete fromBlud. A friend looked at the points and to my surprise the points are off by almost a half inch. I asked the dealer I got the cue from to see the other cues he had and none of the petes points are even close to matching up. Now these cues sell for $350, more than several other cue makers who do put the time and effort nedded to build great cues. This isn't the first Blud I have owned. I had one about 6 years ago that I did like and traded off. I had another from the same time frame I bought from a good friend who needed money and hated it. I gave it back. I have played with several others and none of them seem to play the same. I understand Blud is supposed to start charging $500 for a sneaky pete with an extra shaft. That is alot of money for a great sneaky pete when you have people like Bob Fry, Jacoby, Gilbert and a ton of others I don't know of. Tim Scruggs used to make great sneaky pete's but refers all calls to Bob Fry now, who used to work with Tim. So not all cue makers are out for their own dollar.

Why do the points have to perfect on a sneaky if I may ask?
Really, these are blanks that come from Valley or Dufferin or other suppliers. Getting them even is almost next to impossible. That's why some of them have inlays on top of the points now.

Good point Leonard! Some people out there just try and knock others for their own good. Some do it for their ego, some for the money, and some for all of the above. Some of the people that knock others are just plain ignorant, and some just don't know better. You know as well as I do which ones are ignorant,:D and which ones just don't know better, but hey, to each his own. Free country, right!
As an American, one of the values that I hold dear is that of "Free Enterprise." IMHO, anyone who tries to interfere with another persons means of "making a living," does not hold these values close to their heart. One of the most important things that "free enterprise" stimulates is market choice. "Free enterprise" does not guarantee financial gain. I say line 'em up, and let the people choose which product they want. Unfortunately, there are those involved in this sport that quite simply don't believe in a free market. I guess we will just have to learn to deal with it. I have learned that when we push through the times when life throws us a curve ball, then we will be the stronger for it.
You know the old saying "What goes around comes around?" Well, I am here to tell you that in my experience, it does. Fate also tells us that those that knock others will get what they have coming somewhere down the line.
Nice to have you in the newsgroup!:D :D :D

Mouse, if you want dead on points, send in the cash. It ain't gonna be cheap. I don't make any money on pete's. I build them for guys like you, who like pete's. And for some that can't afford nicer cues. If they were all I built, they too, would be dead on as my "VEE" points are. [ within 10 to 20 thousands]. I remember that pete's were to look like house cues, or am I wrong? Some points are off no matter what you do. I have only so much time to spend on pete's. Most of my pete points come very close. I'am not like most cuemakers, that build pete's from house cues, I recently started building my own blanks, and this has made a big differance in point line up. Of course some would bitch if hung with a new rope. I say again, my cues are not for all, and all are not for my cues.
thanks to Ted, Bruin and Joseph cues.

Da- Blud
PS, MOUSE, thanks for the knock. Please, Mouse, don't come back saying it's an opinion, cause it was a knock.

BLUD, WHEN YOU PAY THE MONEY I PAY FOR THESE CUES YOU EXPECT QUALITY. You charge $350 for a pete that the points don't match up even close and you can see the glue lines in the points. If you don't believe this I will show you the cue in two weeks in Las Vegas. Andy Gilbert charges $350 for a three piece jump break and the points do match up. Sorry I didn't get ahold of him. Jacoby charges $300 for an ebony pete with two shafts as does Bob Fry. I guess your materials are much more expensive and how do you ever make money giving cues away? Even to pros.

i sympathize with you, but a sneaky pete is not meant for good looks. i think quality should be there no matter what, don't get me wrong,,, but really, "perfect ponits" or perfect whatever is the exception not the rule, and more a credit to those who care.

i can't really agree with blud's "pay me more and you'll get the quality you want" reply. an artist cares about EVERYTHING he turns out because they are ALL a reflection of his integrity. nonetheless, uneven points happen.

this is about as much a fence-sitting i can do. :):):)

Sometimes when wood has grown on the side of a hill and is cut it will tend to warp when made into a cue and no cuemaker can stop it. It does happen to all of us at one time or another.

Ronnie Powell of Que Perfect Cues

on the other hand, bill stroud KNOWS where the wood has grown by looking at it.

and as i have rethought my opinions about blud's cues,,,,what does it matter now. one only knows what one sees.

God reading all of this .It just breaks my heart .Because i know Blud,Andy G and Teddy H. And look here to make a sneaky pete cue It's a no brainer .You ask your self (1) why pay 350 for a sneaky in the first place if you put 200 more with you just might get a cue with 4 points and wrap.Hell you can get a good used cue with 4 point for about the same price . But always remeber it like a car you just pay for the NAME.And there is so many of thoes out the that do the same thing and that's going from point A to B.But if you want good stuff you have to dig deep in the pocket.Cue making is a hard work trust me i did and it's no joke .So all you q makers out there I saw first hand what you'll go throught to make a cue.Not saying noting about the blood you give out for free making q'z..

P>S mouse can get me a good price on A Gilbert Q. IF you drive to his house and get me one i'll pay for your gas too..????

Hay Blud r u comein up for the Grady tourment? If so bring some ex- shafts i broke the one i had on your cue....

as far as custom cues go.... i like the hit of dominiak, blackcreek, buss has always been a big fav of mine, gilbert and terbrock (not well known, but makes a great cue).

You guys have surely gotten away from the subject matter. With your remark towards each other, you both should consider not posting or at least post in private.
blud

I have to agree with Mr. Bludworth on this. You two guys should take your argument elsewhere.

Mr Powell, Americans or whites are shown a lot of respect in the Philippines, I have never heard any filipino calling an american a 'monkey'. I however have heard a lot of Americans calling Filipinos monkeys... even brown or short monkeys. Just my two cents

I agree with with all who have posted regarding this 'argument.' It has no place on this public forum and Mike and I would appreciate it if this public forum was not used to air your argument. Every person on this forum has a right to his/her personal opinions and has every right to air them for discussion, but when it breaks down to name calling and personal attacks from both sides like I have read, it has no place here.

I deleted both sides of the argument between Ronnie and Warren, again. I would very much appreciate it if I didnt have to delete another one. Let us please keep this on a respectable level.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Chuck Parrill

Not trying to 'attack' anyone but are you going to put em on your 'Cue Thieves' page also (Warren, Miko)...seems to me you make alot of enemies. And it sounds like the whole world is screwing you...why is that?
"If you are a Filipino then you are a LIAR!" i think it speaks for itself.

Hi Mr Powell, I don't see how my post is an attack on you. I even stated at the end that it was just my 2 cents. I just said something from what I know and from what I experienced, I did not say that you are a liar. Can u specifically state which part of my post u think is an attack on you? thanks
