Custom and High End Cues on the Decline?

For what it's worth, I'm 30 and really appreciate the aesthetics of cues. I find the sea of plain looking Predators to be pretty boring.

That being said, the custom cues I see usually don't look more interesting than the higher end production cues from companies like Meucci, Joss, Jacoby, etc. I would still probably get one if I had the money, but I don't and likely won't for a long time.

I treated myself to one of the "budget" Meuccis and I love it, the ANW-1 in rainbow finish. My next reward to myself (maybe if/when I become an APA 6) will likely be one of the flashier Josses.
When I was younger I wanted to have a beautiful looking cue, now function is the only thing that is important to me, it's cool if want a cue like that, I can appreciate the craftsmanship and it's beauty but in the end I know none of that makes it play any better.

As seen below, I have several cues that have quite a bit of value....I didnt buy them because they were expensive, I bought them because I wanted them. My player cue is a 57" Gus Hoppe cue.

My two daughters (in their 30's) have all expressed wanting to inherit the guns, coins, cars, etc. Both of them told me they didnt want the cues. Honestly, I dont know what to do with them when I hit the furnace......Probably give them to friends. Lord all I ask is not let my wife sell them for $1 each at a garage sale.

I bought a super plain looking cue as my first and didn't care about aesthetics at all, but for some reason I really grew to appreciate cues as art this year.

Of course it won't make me play better, but I'm a nerd for this stuff and I appreciate the aesthetics.

We just did the same thing but opposite of each other, I appreciate the art and precision of building a custom cue but I love the hit of my cue even more.

Same here. Back in the day, I was so mesmerized with the aesthetics of a custom, only because the typical production cues were so below mediocre. Nowadays, you can have a great looking production cue for way less but hits like an amazing cue. Anyway, I would prefer something now less flashy. I wouldn't even consider any cue with a ton of overlays/inlays or points regardless if they are custom or not.

Pride of ownership.

Americans for the most part have given up all their pride. Sad really

Just something about old school craftsmanship and beauty that cannot be replaced with the soulless production cues.

We need more testosterone and pride in this country. Toxic masculinity made this place great and something to be proud of, now sniveling in the corner is a virtue. Oh well, the end will come soon enough.

Let the meek inherit the earth, the bold and brave will find a new planet

WTF is that^^^ tangent about ? 🤣🤣🤣

One of these days all of you will hit the "Jackpot" when it comes to finding the cue that is meant for you.

Once you do, stick with it and quit searching for the Holy Grail Cue.

I have it.
