custom cue help?!?

i play with a showcase, built by Mr Etheridge. i used to play with a schon, decided to switch to custom cue and tried showcase, which is just not for me. i live in europe and dont have the oppurtunity to try many custom cues. i like a soft hit, kind of a whippy cue(not too much), with a thin grip like the schon. i was thinking of Black Boar, or Prewitt. maybe someone can help me pick the right custom cue. thanks for any help.

If you get a chance go to a major tournament. There is usually area where cue vendors and sometimes cuemaker have booths or tables set up selling their stuff. You will then be able to compare and maybe get a reduced price. Sometimes they will let you hit a few balls if you are serious on buying.

i go to the tournaments, EuroTours mainly, but the cuemakers there are German guy Ernst, Longoni, some other cuemakers from europe that i never heard of. i will come to the States, but not until next year. i know i can find it easily there but what do i do till then??

Are you wanting to purchase an existing cue or are you wanting to order one to be custom made by the cuemaker?

either, or doesnt matter. as long as it mathches my expectations, it could be existing or custom made. what i want is a thin grip, soft hit, leather wrap. i actually want the wrap to be extended almost all the way down to the buttcap, since i hold the cue from the very back.(i'm tall, with loong arms.)

From what you're describing I would think that you want to have a cue made, which will take anywhere from 3 months to a year to get anyhow. I haven't played with a Black Boar or Prewitt so I don't know how they hit, but you may want to consider Skip Weston. His cues hit similar to what you're wanting and his pointwork is second to none. Check out Skip's website and Forum member's Skips and see if you like his style. If you custom order it you can specify the wrap location and butt diameter.

One thing you might also want to think about is going to a longer cue. I'm 6'2" and I've recently changed to 60" cues and am not looking back. Now instead of my hand on the very end of the butt or hanging off the end I am always on the butt and mostly on the wrap! Just some ideas to think about.

I think you need to give up on that idea of wrap that extends down to the buttcap. That is if you want a Prewitt or BB. They will not accomodate that request I would think.
You might need to order a 59" cue. I know of a great maker of longer cues but he has a 4 year wait so forget about him.
Maybe try to find a longer cue by a reputable maker.

I also am a bigger guy, I had my BCM made 60" and will never go back to a regular cue again it just feels better to me a regular cue always made me feel all closed up. I would find myself grabing all the way at the butt end and i think it affected my game.
