Who's a good custom cue maker who makes a high quality custom cue for $1000 or less? I'd be willing to wait less than 1 year, for such a custom cue.

the list your requesting is VERY long and very subjective. A lot of cue makers can turn around a cue in a year or less and make a quaility product for under 1000.
This comes down to individual opinions in most cases.
If I had 1000 to spend and I was getting my own custom cue made...

I will say it over and over, you will not beat a Steve Klein or the attention he gives to each customer. I think he is close to your price range, though the more fancier cues would be more obviously.

Kent Davis without a doubt makes one of the very best cues in the country and is reasonably priced. All hand made, the points match up perfectly and the new taper on the shaft he makes gives the cue a great hit. I play with one and I've played with none better.

I am very happy with all of my Bob Frey cues as well as all of my Tony Zinzola cues. I have owned over a hundred cues over the last 25 years and will always have a Bob Frey and Tony Zinola cue in my collection.

My suggestion would be to give Travis Nicklich at Blackcreek Cues a call.
He makes a great cue, FULL SPLICE, and can definitely do it in your time frame and price range.

I think you would be better off buying a used cue for less especially in this market.
I really think the deals for a guy with CASH is pretty amazing right now and only look for it to get better.
Buy quaility top name cuemaker even if you add a few beans to it to get it. While the makers above do provide a good cue for the money, IMO, now is the time to get a top cuemakers cue at bargin basement pricing.
IMO, you can spend $1000 on cue that will never be worth more and probably less or you can spend a little more and get a top maker that will hold its value and will move back up when the market is better...
Sound like a damn broker and probably more there than you want to hear, but I am advising you as if you were my best friend.

My recommendation is look at the for sale section and spend a little time noticing the "WTB" wanting to buy, and the cues that have high demand and sell quickly.
I know that guys are going to give the blurb..."Im looking for a player not this or not that..." My point is always try to buy something that isnt going to be a problem getting rid of.
The days of buying a Balabuska or a Gus for a few hundred is over, and frankly I dont see that happening again, too many makers and good makers.
If you want to PM Id give you my thoughts on particular makers but it really isnt a secret.

I find myself saying the same thing....
As of late, truer words have not been spoken. It's amazing what you can get if you just keep looking. I nearly bought a Richard Harris (Blue Grass) about 18 months ago. It was a very plain cue with no points, but still gorgeous. I ended up holding off and kept playing with what I had. But when cue prices started dropping I started the search again. I ended up getting a fantastic 6 pointer, nicer rings, matching JP's and really great shafts for just a few dollars more that I would have spent on the PJ's months earlier. I don't expect to lose ANY money on the deal once the cue market turns around, and it will!
Now I'm like a Pig in S#@T!!!!!! that is until my Searing arrives... in about 5 years LOL:thumbup:
