Custom Cue

I get the 8!!!

I have tried this before but willing to give it a second considering it is now time to purchase. I have been struggling to find a nice custom cue, some of the cue makers are interested in selling what they have instead of building and they are very hard to get a hold of plus take into consideration the number of great custom cue makers out there it makes the decision even tougher. I am not a collector and I am not loaded but I would like to buy a custom once in my life. I currently shoot with a schon, I like the stiff hit but the deflection from the shaft is a little bit to be desired. I am looking for a cue that is similar in balance and feel, would really like to hear what you experts would recommend. I am looking for a 12 inch taper on the shaft, much different than the 8 that is on a Schon. I appreciate any direction you can offer. Thanks again.

You could get a lot of answers to your question. Your best bet is to play with a few cues and get an idea what you like.

If you simply are looking for a low deflection shaft you can get a predator or other laminated shaft and put it on your Schon. Schon butt with a predator shaft is a popular combination.

Talk to the Cue Makers. Access, during the conversation, their ability and willingness to build the cue you want. Compare prices .... Try to determine what you are paying for the cue maker's name.

Then, get your hands on one of his cues .... beg, borrow, steal, or visit his shop ... and hit a few balls with each cue. The one that feels best to YOU, hits like YOU want a cue to hit .... THAT's the cue for you!

NO need for a custom....

You dont need a new custom cue to get what you are asking for. If shaft taper is your real concern due to schons standard stiff short taper, then I suggest getting the taper lengthened professionally. Find your preferred taper length and diameter before you purchase a custom by retapering ur current shaft to what you would like it to be and see how it goes from there. Just my opinion..........

+1 on Kieth Josie. My first custom was a Josie very deluxe sneaky. Hits like a dream. And if you have any issues whatsoever Kieth will make it right, no questions asked. I cannot reccomend him highly enough for you're first custom. You will not be dissapointed. Lee peppers is no slouch either.
