I told my son about your project and he instantly said, "Well dad, let's do one ourselves in my backyard". Sure, like I have one fourth of the skills that you have. I'd have to learn how to do most everything for the first time, except sheetrocking. Lol

Truly an inspiration. I live in NY City and may never get a chance to build a clubroom. Its great to see a project like this. You remind me of a modern day Dick Proenneke!

... Also, why not put all your pictures on Photobucket so we can see any details not shown here.

Simply awesome. Just found this thread (as said before, for all my time on AZ I can't believe I haven't seen it sooner)

Can't wait to see the finished product.

This has been a really neat thread to follow, and you sir are a true craftsman. Thanks for sharing!

Aside from the fine work you've done building the room, when you get to the tables will you be doing anything special, or keep them set up to original spec?

As for the Tables I plan on giving them a complete refinish. Buffing and polishing the rails. Sanding and stripping the legs and skirts then staining and polyurethaning. I found a place that will powder coat all the trim peices. The felt is in very good condition and the rails are also in great shape. I expect them to look new when I'm done with them. I hope!

Thanks, you coudn't be more right. So far I've spent anywhere from $6-$7000 in materials. If I would have paid contractots it could easily be $10,000 in labor alone. That's one thing my Dad taught me, is, learn to to do things right, and you'll save your self some money and alot of headaches.
I have plans on tallying up all my expenses when I'm done to get a final number on what this room set me back and I'll be sure to post the final numbers.

Bar

When I saw the backsplash, I couldn't help but post some pics I took of my employer's basement, built-out over the last year. In the kitchen/bar they chose a very similar ceramic back splash that you found, and one nearly identical to yours for their guest shower. The stone tile on the shower wall is a travertine product we sell called "Windsor". (Yes they do have a pool table... not a commercial quality one but it looks good in there. The stone in the billiard room is "Cedar Creek".)

@ dsoriano... just for the record, I'm not trying to sell you stone... I know you're doing all this awesome work for as little as possible. As part of my job here at www.nsvi.com, I'm priviledged to look at stunning designs with stone all day long and love to share ideas. If you find yourself discovering an amazing deal on any masonry products in TX, and need any questions answered, I can most likely help with that.

Wainscoting Panels

I feel I got alot done this weekend. I picked up the 1/4" oak and began installing the inner panels of the wainscoting. I Used Tite Bond wood glue and fastened the panles along the edges with 1/4" staples. These will be hid with shoe mold trim which I also picked up, just havent put ip up yet.

bar Furrdown

I built the Bar furrdown this past weekend. I decided to build it out of MDF. I had the existing light feed poking out of the ceiling 6' from the wall ready to wire. I drilled holes for the light curcuit then attached it to the ceiling joist with 3" screws. I then gave it my support test. I hung from it and tried to pull it down. (My fathers says one of these days something's gonna fail that test.)

I added the stiles and rails making sure it matched the bottom bar deminsions. takiing into consideration the trim build out width, it measures exactly 8' matching the Bar perfectly. I'll be adding 4-1/4" Oak crown molding along the ceiing and wrapping the intire Bar, furrdown and build-outs. I really can't wait to get this done, its gonna look awesome!
After I fiinished trimming I installed the light pendants. I've been icthing to put these up for a long time. I found all three for $10 on criaglist new in the box.

Bar boxes

Before I begin facing the Bar I needed to close the top bar boxes. I finished the small stain glass designs Thursday to be ready for the weekend. I cut the opening tight then applied the veneer, the stain glass fit nice and snugg then I added a bead of glue. I also cut the mid arch. Once I add the crown molding it won't look so plain.

I had a hard time capturing a true picture of what it looks like. My camera is'nt set up for dark room pics.

Coodos dsoriano. Every time I check this thread I'm amazed at the detail work. I know from experience oak lumber is not cheap, your wife is pretty awsome to be letting you spend money at least on a weekly basis. I checked back to the post that has your detail bar Drawing, It looks just like it!!

Thanks. Well the family is as excited as I am to having this completed. They have sacrificed a lot during this project and I have a big supprise in store for them when its done.

As of last week I'm estimating somewhere between $6-$7000. I'll do a finla calculation when I'm doone.

$6-$ 7000. I just sold a 12'X24' storage shed for $5,500... My pool room is not anywhere near as fancy as yours... or as big, and I have 17K in it. I need to know where you get your material?

The room is starting to take shape beautifully! The closer it gets, the worse the anticipation becomes!!

I'm so happy for you and I know you and your family will enjoy this room so much!!

Like I said, I wish your wife and my wife would get together so maybe some of that niceness from your wife will rub off on mine. Two weeks ago I volunteered to work overtime on the weekend just so I could buy myself a drum set. I figured since I wanted one, I'd better raise the money myself. So I worked the weekend and made enough to buy the drum set and a couple of extra things. I only paid $800 for the drum set and spent a total of $1000 which I covered by working the overtime on the weekend, but that wasn't good enough, and my wife lost her mind!! Like I took the money from our savings account or something. She's difficult to deal with sometimes.

We should all be so lucky to have a supportive wife like yours!! Maybe someday!

Anyways, I've vented enough. The project looks amazing! Have a great weekend!
