Cut Break?

I've been watching some of the 08' US Open 9-ball mathces and the announcers keep refering to a 'cut break'. What is it?

It's where your hitting half of the 1 ball off to the side with a slight draw , I maybe wrong on the draw part but it works pretty well for me when I do it .

thats right except you can put any english you desire depending on where you are trying to get the CB to end up.

It's when they use the break box, that limits them to a certain distance from the center, so that the players can't drop the wing ball as easily from the rail, so they resort to cutting the 1 to get a similar effect.

That makes sense! It certainly doesn't seem necessary to cut the 1 ball when your breaking from the edge of the table. I can see doing it from the box to create a break similar to doing it from the sides. How big is the box any way?

The rules says: no cut break- break like a man should!
