Who are they currently? Bob Zack is probably the best, Horner second but then who? David Roades doesn't count anymore so who's worth mentioning?

Are you looking to be King of AZ Billiards for Oregon?
JoeyA

To be honest you have to put Vancover WA in the quesiton to due to how many of them come into Oregon and play.

Thanks said, Glenn Atwell is #1.

Others would include:
Bob Zack
Matt Horner
Gary French
Steve Linglebach

Glenn Atwell is the consensus #1 without a doubt.
Give props to Matt Bryan for his performance in the recent Western BCA tournament. He, Steve, Bob and Gary are absolute terrors in our APA masters league. I'll give a shout out for Dave Randell as well. He ran 58 balls in a tourney the other night, plus he's a great table tech to boot!

Matt Horner is my "honorary nephew"...His deceased dad & I were awfully close buddies. Damn, I miss the guy. Anyway, Matt's dad would be proud of his accomplishments at ANY game.

Matt is now a daddy...other things in life taking priority over pool...as they should. Saw him not too many days ago, and he said he hadn't touched a stick since the Lincoln City Grand Masters event.

Lots of good players in Oregon. Two who come to mind are Tom Brady & Brett Seyler (sp?)

Carlos Santibanez should be considered...as well as the 15 year old phenom, Chris Byers....wow, is he gonna be something if he keeps at it.

I could probably think of more given time, but these names come to mind.

Matt definitely plays top notch, at least what I saw of him during the Grand Masters event during lincoln city. He did have the lead going into the fourth day and then the pool gods were just nasty to him. I hope that the outcome of that event isnt playing a role in him not picking up a stick and it has to do with more of the addition to the family.

I enjoyed watching him play and hope to see more of him in the future. Also, PWD, its nice to see that you took him under your wings as an honorary nephew, and I am sure Mr. Horner is looking down with a proud smile on his face.

Dont be so damn humble!!!!

Hmmmm, let me think. Could it be that the player who made it to the last two finals in the mens master singles at the Western BCA Regionals in Lincoln City could be on this list? ;):D
I say yes, this player should be on the list. Hmmmm, I think its you kez,:)
There are about 8 or so top players in oregon, and imo, you are on that list.

Busted, started a thread just to see if your name would end up on it,,ha ha ha. I dont hold anything against you for starting the thread, its nice to know where you stand in other players mind.

If it is the same person that made it to the Master's finals two years in a row then I would think his name should be on the list.

Didn't Mike Zimmerman move to Oregon, or was that Idaho?

Kez was in the mens masters singles 9 ball finals last october, and also in the mens masters singles 8 ball finals just last month!!!! Very impressive, imo. If you look at the results, by process of elimination, you could figure out who this "kez" guy is.:D
Good player, and very entertaining!!!!! I just told him last month, "he is a breath of fresh air" in the mens masters division.
Cmon Kez, dont be shy. Tell everyone who you are!!!!!:D

FYI, Mike Zimmerman moved to southern oregon. :)

I do agree with you, pretty impressive to do that well in both tournaments and is deserving of being in the top 20. I did watch the finals on the 8 ball and I did see Conway playing ????, who might be Kez according to Milo.

Dont forget to add Zimmerman to the list since he moved. I would suspect his wife to be on there too, but not too sure about that since I really only seen her play once.

I thought Kez might be Paul Marquez.

on a barbox

Darold Craine? (Sp)

I've only seen him play on 7 footers but he is very tough on them
finished top 5 at the us barbox championships in 8ball and 9ball
few years back

nice guy and a sporty player

I hate to be the guy who says it, but i will.

Lincoln city's master division is not the same anymore. Now that they took the top 10 or 12 guys out and make a master division. Placing in the top of that field no longer states you are one of the best in Oregon.

It was funny to see all the master players who could never win the master division cry about it year after year and finally stopped showing up for the event. Now that the master division is a Open AA a lot of them showed up this time and were running around after saying "I placed 7/8th or 5/6th."

SAD

David has worked on my antique table before and is a great tech. He also is the guy to do restoration work if needed. Ive only met him a few times, but I think he used to be an absolute beast on the tables and could easily get that back with some more time on the tables.

Whats the pool hall of choice

Whats the pool hall of choice in Portland for the best level of play. I play on the coast and could use a chance to play against more better players. I place 25th in open B in my second year this year, so while Ive got a ways to go I think I am getting better. I'd just like to play against a little bit better variety of players.

Classics

I wouldnt have guessed it. I used to play there a lot. Back when I thought the Players rental cue was real nice, and we played 3 person nine ball. There used to just be a small non smoking section that was almost never crowded. For some reason I always assumed the better players had somewhere else to play. Cues in Gresham is the only other pool hall Ive played at in Portland (aside from somewhere like Rock Bottom Brewery, which I don't count). Its good to know though. I can't say I'm looking for any games against Atwell, but I'm sure there are a few other above average players I wouldnt be embarrased to ask for game against.

For the upscale scene...there is Rialto...downtown. Mostly the downtown office crowd tho...all nice gold crowns, fern bar, good eats.

Matt & I went to Rialto to check out the tables prior to a tournament there
a couple of years back. Nobody there for him to play, so we went to Classic...he found a game there.

Really tho, I'm sure others know the Portland scene better than either Matt or I...we both live further South, don't go up there often.

I heard that Koos Keizer moved up that way about ten years ago from Arizona. Man he could play, and now he's just dropped off the map. Anyone hear anything about him? Nice guy too.
